Thanks. I still enjoyed my trip there this year regardless.
I hope Castleford get a new stadium and the franchise they deserve

I think Cas' only hope for a franchise and the only reason they would not get one is the build status of the new ground.
If the land is being cleared (I hear it is), and the money is in place then I have no problem with Cas retaining their place.
The issue is not what you have or don't have alone.
It is that you (currently) don't have a premium competition ground and that Cas is just a town. No interest to a national newspaper, etc.
I have alot of time for Cas as they have a good style of play and a strong belief in youth systems. Show that their is a new stadium on the way and they are a shoe-in, else they are at the mercy of the likes of Celtic, Toulouse and Salford who offer much more over a longer term.
Remember it is what you can offer to SL, not what SL can offer to you. The RFL have learnt their lesson with PSG; Toulouse is the heartlands of French RL and Celtic is all alone with no rugby union in the area and a public that wants it, and is on the doorstep to Cardiff

much as i love wheldon road, i know our future is reliant on the new stadium. They have started clearing the land for that new stadium as you say and naming rights have already been sold. Both salford and celtic are inferior grounds to ours and would be in new grounds no faster than castleford. Looking back my previous post did sound a little arogant but no team that may replace us has better youth development or attendances.
Widnes and touluse may have better facilities but such an advantage will only exist for a couple of years. Tolouse may have the advantage at that point of being an expansion club, but i cannot see what widnes would have to offer more than castleford.

| Quote Londo06="Londo06"I would accept that atmosphere is top of the agenda, but amenities are surely something that should be thought of, and that usually comes with a telegenic ground.
The Halliwell-Jones ticks all those boxes; seating for those who want it and standing for those who want it. Mix in modern facilities and you get an old-fashioned feel but you won't have someone ing in your pocket (or whatever the Ken Bates quote on modern stadia was)'"

| Not having a go at Cas as they are a traditional heartlands club but are they really what the future of RL is all about.
Forget tradition, forget history(why you ask), the future of RL is about clubs spread far and wide in modern stadiums with big crowds.
Has a smallish town in Yorkshire surrounded by other RL teams got that potential?
If you compare RL with football traditional teams have dropped divisions over time and the game has moved on. Big crowds, nice stadiums , plenty of sponsorship etc That is the blue print for success in the premier league
I really cant see the likes of Hudds, Cas, Wakey etc all being in the top league in the future. Maybe this time, but longer term, I'm not sure
We may disappear as well, who knows where the game will go.
