Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

| I'm not saying you dont chase them, just that dont expect the return on investement to be any higher than non players, in fact at Championship level in the heartlands like Leigh you generally find the juniors and more specifically their coaches gravitate towards the local SL clubs, they know full well what is going on at the LSV, they just dont put value on it, compared to Wigan,Wire and Saints

| Quote: gutterfax "But the Amateur Clubs and players are a pretty important network if you want to spread the word for little expenditure.
I've filled a few arenas in the last couple of years by getting the local schools and clubs to sell tickets and keep half the take. All but 1 game is already fully booked for this season.
Amazing what you can achieve if you engage these clubs/schools in a positive way. I have some businesses actually sponsoring groups of kids by paying for busses to get them to and from the games....locals want to get involved whereas 2 or 3 years ago, nobody cared.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying is would work for RL in London, but I'd hazard a guess that if you gave the Hammersmith Hoists 1,000 Hive tickets to sell at a score each and told them that they could keep 10k if they shifted them all, you'd get very few back "unsold" and the Hoists would have enough funds to cover their yearly overseas trip.......what are the chances Hemel, Oxford or even the Skolars wouldn't mind a piece of that sort of funding either?
It's all about vision, communication and hard work...lots and lots of hard work.'"
Hoists? Spawn of the Devil!!!

| Amateur sides in London come and go, none seem to stick around for more than a few years.
Clubs to have joined KPC1 in recent years: Hemel, Oxford, Gloucester, North Wales, South Wales
Clubs looking to join KPC1: Coventry, Leicester and Medway
That's three sides in the South East (Hemel, Oxford and Medway) but none in London.
It's hard to base much of a strategy around clubs that are less stable than the Broncos. I'm not sure that Hills Hoists are still going but if they were, they would be the oldest club in London (at about 5 years old!).

| I have read reports elsewhere that Hill Hoists have folded. They were losing key personnel and their main sponsor at the end of last season so it is quite possible.

| Yeah Hammersmith Hills Hoists have folded. The oldest amateur open age club in London is Newham Dockers (founded 2012)

| Sounds like the win/win scenario of getting amateurs to sell tickets for part of the revenue needs to start sooner rather than later.
13 games a year.......13 opportunities to do a "gillingham" and get the locals to do the work for some of the money!

| The club tried to get the link going a few years ago. All registered players got a free season ticket, then played all the games on a sat, I think the response was that the london league should play on sunday rather than quins playing on sunday

Ah right, lol. We should link up with some of them. They seem to have some great amateur players there.

Hughes doesn't care about supporters.
I regret to say it, but he is single handedly removing any chance of him leaving a legacy. What a waste of time and money, not to mention setting the game back in the capital by 20 years.
Cheers Dave.......
