| Quote ="wire-quin"Accepting it's not great why dont you just turn up on the day and pay at the gate.
As big a draw as the dancing kid maybe I suspect it wont be a sell out.
Alternatively stay at home and have a charity B B Q'"
Well if you believe the available seats in the Online booking system the majority of remaining seats are in rows A to D which having sat there in the first season back at the Stoop is a pretty crap view. Having a 120 mileround trip to the game I was keen to ensure I could get a decent seat
There are lots of £25 (or is it £31) tickets available I suspect that I will do exactly that and pay on the gate £25 and get a decent seat
Cutting through all the mickey taking (the first 2 BBQ's have attracted 180 people and we don't charge a booking fee) the surcharge on a ticket is unacceptable and the issue os of course far bigger than my intentions. Many people like to have their tickets booked in advance and this is a real turn off. Once someone has purchased a ticket they are committed to be there, one the day who knows what may crop up to change their mind
My footy club Oxford United has a completely opposite approach. Buying in advance saves you £2 on every ticket, irrespective of the price and the booking fee for web and telephone is £1 per booking. So booking early saves you £1 but gives the club a better view of what the crowd will be and therefore what plans need to be made
Quins seem to punish fans for early commitment to go to a game which is a very strange way to behave IMO
These are all the things that together hamper the clubs intention (we assume it is their intention) to increase crowds. They need to be doing things to encourage and not discourage people
As I said before its just my view

| Plenty of major websites charge fees for using their online facility. I don't see any issue with that. Its £3 you are crying over
Shall we club together to calm him down? I'll contribute 50p.

Its a cost of doing business Dave and not something you should expect your customers to pay for
Tell me another online retailer that charges you to use their website. You'll have to search hard
If it has cost them the equivalent of £3 per ticket then they have been done

As usual you are totally missing (or choosing to ignore) the point
This is not about me, how many other people who "don't give a monkeys and rank it as your bottom priority" may decide the same as myself. They may choose to pay for a ticket but not the other add ons
Keep you head in the sand, I am sure these are the sort of 'marketing initiatives' that will hodl the club in good stead for the future
I will be there though but it does not stop it being very wrong

My head in the sand? You are the one that has only just come across the concept of being charged to use an online service
Its £3, to get an advantage over walk up customers and collect tickets at your leisure, a bargain IMO.

You've said yourself that Oxford United charged you £1. The Quins online ticketing solution is excellent and wouldn't have been free.
Where are you getting £6 from? Its £3, unless you want to pay with a credit card.
Ever bought tickets for a gig or theatre performance? No fees there either?

It clearly says that there is a £3 we sales fee plus a £3 Credit OR Debit Card charge
I guess that could have changed. Your evidence is clear but I am just saying what the site says at the point you are about to pay.

| Inform them I made a purchase in February using the exact same system and didn't get charged to use a debit card. I find charging for using debit cards a little offside tbh but not a massive issue. Very very few places do it.

| I’m with Chris Brown on this one. To levy a charge of 30% on a £20 ticket is scandalous. I know there are cheaper ways of buying them but this hardly encourages the casual punter.
In my ignorance earlier in the season, I purchase a ticket online and was only offered the option of buying a ticket in the first four rows. Not having been to any of the games prior to this one I incorrectly assumed that the seats behind me were all sold. Imagine my surprise when I arrived to find a majority of the seats empty. OK so I moved and the next game I attended bought my ticket, at the back of the stand, on the gate but again it hardly encourages or gives the right impression to a casual punter.

I've found this to be a recurring theme. Any offers or discounts are often introduced at a late stage as some kind of afterthought when the most committed supporters have already bought tickets. Prime example being the free tickets for friends of STHs for today's match, of which we were only notified last weekend after I'd already persuaded some mates to buy tickets in advance and come along.
Two years ago I bought an "early bird" season ticket in November, then a few weeks before the start of the season there was suddenly an offer that would have saved me about £50 on what I'd already paid. In fairness a club official PM'd me on here and offered to refund me the difference after I'd mentioned it. I declined as I felt I'd paid a fair price that I could afford, but as a matter of principle it's completely daft and will just put people's noses out of joint, especially if they're occasional or floating supporters i.e. the people we most need to win over in order to get the average crowd figure to the same level as our rivals.
The £3 fee for taking a debit card booking online seems a bit excessive - an arbitary figure, probably rounded up from a true cost, just to make a few more quid. Alright someone has to manage the website and stick the tickets in an envelope, but if you buy on the day someone has to staff the ticket office and the turnstiles and physically take your money and you don't pay extra for that - what's the difference other than 36p for postage + a few pence for the envelope? Furthermore you'd think it would be more convenient for the club if a higher percentage of those attending already had a ticket before they arrive on matchday.

Oh it is a charge made by the bank, it doesn't amount to £3 though.
You book a £20 concert ticket and you pay £23.50 ([url=http://www.stargreen.com/events?id=23260randomly taken from Stargreen BO[/url) plus postage, out of that £3.50 comes the credit/debit card processing and all the agents costs inclucing the website.
£6 for processing and handling fee is obscene.

| have to agree with the origional post here
Ok it is a business so there are costs involved! BUT, big question is why, the extra charges? I do recall a couple of seasons back if you bought eqarly in the week, i think it was before Wed tickets were discounted, with the charges applied (that still needed paying) the ticket was still cheaper than turning up and paying on the gate
surely this is what the club should be trying to encourage
But, that aside, the charges are clearly notified soooooo
simple answer pay on the gate, ts not as if you are not going to get in due to it being full

| Thought I would give an update on the response from the club to this issue which I raised with them on 16 May
Well their response was.......................nothing, they haven't responded to my communication. I sent it then and also sent a reminder that they had not responded early last week but sadly still nothing
So while on field the club is undoubtebly making great progress this represents yet another off field lack of professionalism
Thought a response would be reasonable by now

| Could do Dave but I guess there is little point in having a 'Contact Us' area on the website if you are not going to respond to it. Iguess I was being too simplistic when I read

This "double whammy" charge was also in effect for the Magic Weekend tickets. When I filled in the booking form it was clear that there would be a £3 sales fee PLUS another £3 for paying by debit or credit card, even though the ticket I was buying was priced at just £7.50! Therefore I paid by cheque in order to avoid the second charge. I'd have thought the whole process of taking payment by cheque would be more laborious and less cost effective for all concerned than processing a debit card payment, but there you go!
