They can come and watch games if they want, won't get excited though as they will clear off when the going gets tough or something happens that they don't like.'"
Interesting how you can confuse supporters of RL with non supporters of QRL, a fair percentage of people stopped going to club games after the first season, probably a lot less to do with the colours and the tie up and more to do with a perception, real or imagined, that the "essence" of what they loved about their club had altered, and a lot of those had been very hard working supporters of the club in real terms. Again a fair percentage of those have gone on to demonstrate their support and love of the game in other areas, some with other clubs and in "virgin" areas.'"
Fair post, somewhat idealistic to me and of course neither of us have any evidence to support our claims other than that of the anecdotal variety. But even if people gave up after a year, that still stinks to me, especially for the reasons you give. People need to come to terms with the fact that this isn't a community club like it was and never will be again. I want the club to provide 80 minutes of professional rugby league a week and people were prepared to jeopardise this for selfish and trivial reasons.

"Part Timer" - "Fickle Supporters" - "No Empathy" - well it is one area were we will have to agree to disagree! as I have no problem with Anyone returns as I said, whatever reason they stopped supporting I will Welcome them back with open arms. I agree that some did go on to support RL in other ways, but it was just not because of the Quins association, but that is in the past and finished with I just want all those who came for the first time Saturday or returned to come back regular.'"
Take your head out of the sand one day, its nice.

Yes. I still think Melling is a class act - just not at centre, especially right centre.
I can see the logic in giving him a run there in pre-season/round 1 though - but the experiment must now be concluded.

1649_1338292262.jpg I have followed the LONDON CLUB since I was in my teensl even though born in St Helens and still live nearby and went to the first game at Fulham, also Big West Ham Supporter:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_1649.jpg |

Well we can agree on something!
Some people did want it to be a community club or more just a select clique!
The head is well out of the sand Listy, if I had wanted an easier ride it would have been much easier since 1980 to have backed and supported a team 8 miles from me at Knowsley Road and Langtree Park now!
But no I made my choice the same with football and I stick through thick and thin, come on look at the way my footie team has struggled at times! Remember I never disappeared in the Quins RL days and in fact as I have always admitted I supported the change, but also that it did not work.
So many positives from on the pitch on Saturday, I came away not feeling down but having Hope and knowing we can pull it together, then we have to get it right off the pitch completely, but it will not happen over night.

nuts and bolts of the whole of the issues surrounding the club in whatever guise right there. I don't think we have ever been a community club in the real sense, i.e one in which the residents of the locality had a stake in the essence of a RL club being in their manor and grew up with it [closest possibly was when at GP] over many generations. I had never really thought about the people who worked for the club in ad-hoc and voluntary roles as being community but you are probably close to the truth in describing them as such in the absence of a true community club.
Every club up and down the country has people from the local community associated with them who do things small and large for their clubs and are possibly viewed differently within their localities which is perhaps something this club needs to learn about?
We both know of people who used to put hours and hours of work into the club to assist in it functioning who have drifted away over the past 5 years, some as I said due to perception, some possibly due to association, and some due to other commitments and life choices taking precedence, but all should be viewed as supporters of the game, and hopefully again for whatever reason, back to also being supporters of the club.

It's those who would have rather seen RL in London die than watch us play in the last 6 years that some people have a problem with.

The C word raises its head, the last fallback of every batelooney conspiracy theorist on the internet since the day more than one person had an opinion which somebody else disagreed with.
pray tell oh sage of everything, who the members of this clique?, how did one join them?, what were the rules of their club?, was there a funny handshake involved? did they input hours of unpaid work simply to bask in the glory of a CEO's glare?
Cummon Jbullsh we know you know everything, cos you always tell us you do, so spill the beans and elighten us all

Oh you try to come over as so clever Homer! LOL! and it never works!
The Clique always liked to feel it was only they that knew what was going on at the club, but when others on the forum said they knew different LOL, what did they do!!!! start to ridicule and many at that time stopped supporting the club because of it.
I do not know everything, if I did I would contribute to every thread on the forum, I only enter into debate with
anything I do know a little about and when I have an opinion to express, which is what forums are about.
No Paddock Punter, I don't believe one can be a clique, there tends to be a few! and they always stick together always agree with each other!!!!! No transfers Homer sorry, you are either in or out! I think with David Hughes and Gus there are no cliques, could that be why some are always willing to knock them?
