Yup. Enjoy your day relaxing at home or doing something else other than going to the match, I know I will icon_smile.gif

OK, looks like I'm first back, so we'll start with the good news

Quins RL 10 (another great effort from Will Sharpe in the corner).....from here it goes downhill
Storm 34

Attendance - 3,612
Only one stand used
Even the Jumbuck's pie stall was closed
Nobody appeared to be getting details from those that attended. The only sign of any information being taken was Virgin's competition to win a flight which was a phone text competition

All that said, as a lover of RL, I enjoyed the afternoon

I thought the youngsters held their own during the game, although we were outclassed by Melbourne we showed a lot of promise. Will's score was indeed a great effort!!
No visible Marketing presence re data collection, think we could have done a lot more on the day to keep the Aussie contigent happier as well.
Don't forget the crowd was -2 after the streaker and his chum were ejected from the ground!!!!
Still no shirts in the shop !!!! Perhaps that's why Skolars had theirs for sale in the Kings Bar ????

Sounds like the youngsters stood up to be counted and judging by the picture on the Quins board, it was a filthy day.
The other stuff is just depressing. The RFL spent money last year and got 6,000+.....quins revert to type this year and get over 2,000 less icon_rolleyes.gif and even the 1,000 or so first timers/Aussies etc will drift off....unknown and uncontactable.

Have we picked the cheesy NZ accent up as well have we? The church awaits you on your return.

The bar was packed after the game for a couple of hours but thats a positive so lets forget it.

How are your local team the warriors getting on?

Gutters, yep they held their own. The conditions didn't help the ball handling, some solid tackling in defence and they stood up well when being tackled in the attack. Overall I thought they showed a lot of commitment and there may have been a glimmer of a "Do or Die" attitude within the squad out today

Warriors are doing OK thanks for asking, but as I said, they are an Auckland team and I prefer to follow my local team....the Petone Panthers. Season starts in 4 weeks.

The Roosters and The cowboys have lost to the warriors in the pre-season games so far and next up is Manly....the new Warriors gear is available in all sports shops and their season ticket sales are up on last year...it's like being in Twickenham....except for the pre-season games against decent opposition, the new jersey being available and season ticket sales being healthy icon_wink.gif

Quins couldn't organise a pzzz up in a brewary with regard tickets. Paid on the gate and the person in front of me was complaining about being sold two tickets for 1 adult and 1 child on different rows! When he complained and asked for them to be changed so that they could sit together was told sorry that is how the tickets have been allocated and cannot be changed. Needless to say his experience was poor and he probably won't want to come back for future games. QRL misssed a trick and should have issued unallocated seats for all but the centre seats.

Its not going to happen overnight-We have direction with Blanchard and a great youth development programme-Time will tell.

The game today wasn't a great spectacle but then thats indicative of the Aussie style of playing RL

As much as I am tempted to "kick em while they are down", I will hold fire until the end of March, by which stage we will be 1/3 of the way through our home fixtures. In the next 4 weeks the club have to really pull out the stops but I think thay are going down the tried and failed route of targeting big games....... icon_rolleyes.gif Wigan Saints and Leeds are traditionally our big gate games and all average over 4,500......but if we get another sub 3k against either Hudds or Salford (or both) then a full house wouldn't rescue the season icon_biggrin.gifEPRESSED:

Maybe the club is looking beyond this afternoon(short term) and has a long term strategy(dont come the -there will be no long term because London will have SL as long as we want it)

The emphasis has shifted to youth development-its the only way forward. Clearly whilst we wait for it to come through we will have dark days

Its not going to happen overnight? What isn't going to happen, being able to run a ticketing operation properly? Being able to collect the details of new comers? Umm..

The youth development programme is the only thing we have going for us at the moment, and we still have to wait and see if any of them will "make it". This isn't the first time the club have had a thriving youth set up.

I hope you are on the wind up if you think that the club can justify their uselessness by stating they are focusing on a "long term strategy".
