simpsons/017.jpg Welcome Quins Kitties born 02.04.09 -
Purdo - Determined, loveable with a "can-do" attitude. A born leader.
Louie - Big, white and fluffy. A very noisy prop forward.
Harley- Cute and gorgeous (just like our no.9) Well, I couldn't call her Chad, could I?
Update on Quins Mogs :-
Purdo - deffo leader amongst Mogs. The Capo.
Louie - turned out to be more like Louie Spence than LMS. Re-named Judas.
Harley - Cute but not as gorgeous as our no.9.
Oh well, at least I haven't got a Willy.:simpsons/017.jpg |
|
| I think we should cut the guy some slack...he's only played 160 mins of rugby in the last 8 months.
I guess if he doesn't get up to speed, at least we've got Sargy waiting in the wings.

| All too predictable.
Last year only one side made fewer line breaks than us. We were crying out for recruitment aimed at bringing in centres and backrowers who are capable of busting holes in defences. Instead, we focused primarily on the middle unit - Bryant, Hickey, Rinaldi, Kaufusi - only one of whom is a step up on last year's roster.
Rodney and Cook were signed as backrow runners - but both are left-sided and one is injured. Bailey has been switched (successfully) to the right but we remain without a specialist right centre. Colbon was signed as a winger but must now be rated our best option at 3 - when he gets back to fitness. Robertson is looking like a luxury we can't afford - you go out and sign top wingers only when you have top centres on board already.
So, as I say, with the players available so far I am not surprised we sit bottom of the line breaks table - just 4 in 3 games, half of Widnes's tally. We have no presence at right centre, a left centre learning the trade after converting from the wing and - due to the crazy idea of picking only 2 or 3 props in the 17 - we've sucked Rodney, Bailey and Clubb into the middle channel.
That doesn't excuse the test half of rugby ever seen, however. The first 40 mins on Sunday was shameful - low energy, no width, poor discipline, shocking errors, zero confidence. The second was massively better but not great - but that just begs the question: why?
All that said, I remain convinced it can be put right once key players are available again - Colbon, Sarginson and Cook are vital IMO because they will offer Witt and Gower runners. Howell should have played his last game at right centre and JOC should make way for Sarginson as soon as the latter is fit. Cook/Clubb/Bailey MUST do the majority of the their running 2 passes off the ruck - they aren't donkeys. The donkeys - and I mean this respectfully - are Kaufusi, Krasniqi, Te Mata, Bryant and Thomas and at this stage of the season there should always be 2 on the field and 2 on the bench.
So, Colbon and Sarginson in the centres with Cook, Clubb and Bailey offering themselves 2 passes of the ruck and life will become much easier for Gower, Witt and Dorn and potential support runners like Dixon and Robertson. Until then, we've got to make do and mend. At the very least, we need to play 4 props so as to get Clubb and Bailey running wider. With regards to centre options - especially right centre - I think we're knackered until bodies return from injury. And that's a failure of recruitment.

A well thought out post which sounds correct when in words. Call it up-skilling and someone email the club pointing out some of the thoughts here.

Not sure if Colbon was signed as a winger but he certainly went well against Saints and Im sure Dixon is more likely to get some decent ball with him there. Really has been bad luck with him being injured in the first game. Sargy being a natural passer of the ball should be a good provider for the winger and has speed and a side step to beat players. Certainly a step up in terms of the attack. The stupid penalties, unforced errors and inept collective performance we saw on Sunday will hopefully be short lived and the return to fitness of these and other key players should see better performances over the next few weeks although the time scale of our 'injuries' remains a mystery.

The point I can't get over is Sliverstick didn't have the best view, didn't have a replay, didn't have a slowmo zoom cam etc and saw enough for a red card???? not sure about that!!'"
He took a fair amount of time to make the decision, so I can only assume he saw a replay on the screen? Or was influenced by the touch judge.

Its time you were cut loose from suoer league, Youve tried for 25 rs and got nowhere The only thing you are good for is looking after retired Aussies. Your franchise should be given to a team in the north so we can all get on with it up here. Rant over'"

| S... you should have heard the Hull protests around us at the KC. I was convinced that they were watching a different reply on the big screen than me. However I wasn't entirely convinced it was a sending off even though Rinaldi was knocked out for a minute or so. Will watch The Super League Show recorded tonight tomorrow to see.
