so by the same token it's right to write off Rea's appointment so early on?

What has Tony Rea ever achieved as a Rugby League coach? Name me just one thing.....and no reaching the play offs is not winning a trophy.

by that very same logic you could have written off Brian McDermott when he went to Leeds. He then won a grand final.
You can't simply judge people on trophies, it's grossly simplistic.
Oh and a genuine 'lol' at anyone who thinks an accurate description of David Hughes is 'knee-jerk'. A more decisive, reactive chairman would probably have shown Powell the door after Round 8. But feel free to keep digging.

Our last two coaching appointments were a mistake.....Tony Rea and Rob Powell, I was not a fan of Brian Mcdermott either but I can say that when he was coach it was a period of transition from dependence on Australian imports to local players and energising our youth systems, he presided over that. Our youth teams perform much better than prior to him being coach, so whilst I wouldn't have selected him myself I think he did have a positive impact, I wouldn't have expected him to win trophies and challenge for honours, but that's the point now we are at full cap and we must bring a coach in who would've lead us in that direction which we're capable of building towards with a full cap. I think people are just accepting a play off spot as success under Rea and not aiming for something higher, but hey that's the culture of the club both on and off the pitch with fans and administrators alike.

Walk before you can run. If Powell was still here, we'd be confirmed as wooden spooners by now. Rea has at least dragged us into the competetive.

Walk before you can run? that's symbolic of our losing culture, can I just make you aware that we are at or at least close to full cap which means in monetary terms we have the ability to build towards a competitive team we need to start thinking in terms of wining trophies and changing the mindset of the club and that's the core problem we have a losing culture and we accept defeat more easily than other clubs.
Why walk before you can run when you have two feet to run, if you have two feet like everyone else (full salary cap) then why not run like everyone else?

| TR's strength is that he knows London RL history, he know what the problems are. He is better with the fans and also has a handle on how the club should be run. I was a big critic of him as CEO but I am sure he has learned from that as well.

So in answer to my simple question what has Tony Rea achieved as a rugby league coach what does that mean?
I'm talking about cold hard facts, ie, trophies, bringing through youth players, challenging for honours, I don't care if they 'know the clb' or whatever the hell that means, that doesn't bring you results, sometimes you have to change and we really needed a change and we missed the boat, oh well at least we can bring back the good ol' days as London Broncos with Tony Rea as coach, they were brilliant were'nt they, I've got another great idea lets make another false sense of nostalgia decision and move back to The Valley, hey why don't we even bring Tony Martin out of retirement......ahhh the good old days.

1649_1338292262.jpg I have followed the LONDON CLUB since I was in my teensl even though born in St Helens and still live nearby and went to the first game at Fulham, also Big West Ham Supporter:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_1649.jpg |

| Tony is the best man available at present and from what I hear his man to man management on a personal basis is first class, working with some players individually, no one can fault the way he has turned the team around.
Also one journalist was indicating that Bobbie Goulding was in the running? as bad as the Kent story!

The youth programme didnt change under Mac it just became more mature as it will under TR. With the change in player emphasis, youth is more important at the club.
What had McGuire won before he became Wigan boss compared to Noble? Who produced the better results with similar resources?
Clubs up North will get more value from a max SC. It takes time to get to the top.

Could you please answer my question, What has Tony Rea achieved as a rugby league coach? It's a simple question, I don't care about how much he knows the clubs or if he helps old ladies across the street, just give me the facts.

Mcguire proved to be the right decision, he was part of what was at the time a world class set up and under the best brains in the game (Craig Bellamy) at the moment in the toughest comp in the world, that's the type of appointment we needed to make but we bottled it.

Is this the same Bobby Goulding who thinks that SL should be the preserve of the M62? Priceless!

simpsons/017.jpg Welcome Quins Kitties born 02.04.09 -
Purdo - Determined, loveable with a "can-do" attitude. A born leader.
Louie - Big, white and fluffy. A very noisy prop forward.
Harley- Cute and gorgeous (just like our no.9) Well, I couldn't call her Chad, could I?
Update on Quins Mogs :-
Purdo - deffo leader amongst Mogs. The Capo.
Louie - turned out to be more like Louie Spence than LMS. Re-named Judas.
Harley - Cute but not as gorgeous as our no.9.
Oh well, at least I haven't got a Willy.:simpsons/017.jpg |

| I completely agree with Pingwings comments.
I don't recall anyone saying RP was "The New Messiah" and I very much doubt that anyone on here is expecting TR to lead us to silverware anytime soon.
Fact is there a very few coaches that actually win anything.
Just a reminder, we did appoint a massively successful, trophy winning coach once....that went well (not!)
