Black Backgrounds/Zoot.gif Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently.

| Just meaningless platitudes for the media. Reminds me of Winston Churchill's famous remark during the war - 'send all help short of actual assistance'.

| No one is immune from the current financial crisis : ask MUFC or Liverpool. Thank god that David Hughes is an oilman, he may just be able to keep us afloat. If we had a success team that won its home games that would be half the equation to success and would go a long way to solving the 'bums on seats issue'. Could we take an insurance policy out on David just in case. I for one would put in a £1 a week.

| Quote: Homer "This oft heard mantra is a load of rubbish and anybody, club or official body who believes it should not be in charge of a box of crayons.
League in general is an alien sport to the south, much like Ice Hockey, American football, and curling are, sure there will always be a hard core for any of these sports made up in the main of ex-pats from the original sports homelands and those who genuinely take an interest, but for the sport to take off in the general populus psyche it needs to be bedded in over many many years.
Anybody new to the sport coming along to a Quins home game currently sure as eggs are eggs will not be that worried about not coming along to the next match, and instead spending their cash on something else.'"
So Homer - how did you get into it? Personally I played a lot of sport and when I stopped playing and went to watch league and have never left it because it's a great sport!

| Would be good for the game to have a succesful london team, but on the hand, whats point in having a franchise system if some teams are going to exempt from it!

Please support Rob Purdham's testimonial season: |

And me! The first live game of RL I saw was a thriller and I was immediately hooked. It is essential in my view that we get some entertaining and exciting games on the pitch.

| I saw one game and was hooked. Mind you that was one out in Paris so the whole weekend helped.
"Once we get people there, they will come back because it's a great sport." might hold true if what we were dishing up right now was anything like a great example of the sport. Sorry but it ain't and hasn't been for months.

Slightly different route and reasons, but, yeah I [and the family] were hooked after one game, doesn't go against what I have said though because I had at that time no other sport I could [safely] take the family to [Didn't really want Becks standing in the shed like her old man had done
Some absolutely fantastic exciting, result unknown, games over the years kept me involved, but never have I felt as I do now.

| why on earth has mr lewis come out and said this for just shows thet you guys will not booted out of super league. i like quins youve a got a good stadium and facilites and the youth system seems to be working now and is improving. but for me to be in the top tier league for rugby league which is super league you cant simpily just carry on getting crowds of 3 1/2 thousand. now if you guys say get a average crowd of 4 1/2 k and are showing geniune improvement and you can attract big crowds for the bigger games then id keep you in but at the moment quins would be dropping down to the championship.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

| What Mr Lewis doesn't understand is that people dont just go to watch a sterile match played in fairly quiet souless stadiums , especially the larger newish ones where everybody has to sit down , he might think it is wonderful having a bite to eat in the corporate , then sitting in the best seats , before chatting about the match afterwards with the directors and coaches
But that isn't what most people want or are willing to pay for , ' fans ' , those that go to the majority of matches played at the home of the club they support want atmosphere and a feeling of belonging , those things are easier produced if there is a spread of fans both home and away all round a stadium , they are allowed and encouraged to produce noise with singing and chants , even bloody drums and horns on occaision
Yes a competitive team is vital , but that is beyond the control of the club , all clubs have to work on the principle that they have to actually increase their clubs fan base with a losing team on the pitch
Essentially you have to get people into the stadium by hook or by crook , then make the experience good enjoyable enough for them to return , I'd say giving out free [ or almost free ] tickets is the only way you are ever going to achieve it , it will take many years and cost a lot of money

| Played for you lot in 06/07, loaned from another SL Club, had 7 games. Hated it, no atmosphere. Retired 18 months ago and now with the Met, might catch a couple of games, but would rather travel North for my fix

Some players who have played for us "get it"...others don't. Good Luck in the Met...I see the cockney shilling is OK, but not the RL
