I have followed the LONDON CLUB since I was in my teensl even though born in St Helens and still live nearby and went to the first game at Fulham, also Big West Ham Supporter:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_1649.jpg

Well that latest claim takes some beating!! as Moe says on another thread the constant whines and only they can ever be right attitude from a Few and they are only a few is unbelievable!

No wonder many in the North want to kick us out when we have people knocking everything and everyone just for the sake of it!

I love watching rugby at The Stoop. I don't see what the problem is.

Quote: The Penguin "I'll miss the Leyton Orient game as I'll be on a cricket tour. A shame in a way because their supporters club bar is supposed to be the bees knees.'"

The LOSC bar is excellent. It's a regular entry in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide and has won CAMRA's National Club of the Year award. It's round the back of the stand on the Oliver Road side. I've never been in on a matchday, only for beer festivals, so I'm not certain how many real ales are normally available - I think it was five, and they're sourced mostly from smaller local breweries. I believe there's a £1 day membership fee, but beer is only £2.70 a pint. The club is staffed entirely by volunteers and it shuts for the duration of the match. (Obviously the volunteers are supporters who want to watch the game so that might not apply for our games.) There's also a large bar under the stand behind one goal, and possibly more bars elsewhere.

I'm glad we using this ground, it's the only modern football ground of a sensible size for us in London, and has good transport links.

As we're playing the first OTR game there I think it would make sense to play the second one there too. Any first timers who go to the first match and enjoy it will have another one to go to a fortnight later - more chance of getting them sufficiently hooked that they'll consider going to further games at The Stoop. Maybe they've got pitch maintenance too? Otherwise I'd look to play both games there.

As the main reason for the on the road games is clearly pitch maintenance, regardless of the club's bizarre decision to spin it as some sort of bold and wonderful initiative without even alluding to pitch maintenance until the fixture list showing consecutive OTR games immediately after the union season ends made it bleedin' obvious, I assume any home tie in the Challenge Cup 5th Round (on the weekend between the two OTR games) will also have to be played on the road.

The only real problem is we are under the control of a landlord who will always have the first call, also it has not been a successful time off the pitch, yes that can be put down to on the field performances, but for me we live under a cloud of the union landlords, hopefully the change of name will now help. But lastly we have very little income sources other than ticket sales, merchandise & sponsorship, either owning or co-owning our own ground may give us better and more income channels.

Do you think thats the main reason Northerners want rid of London rugby?

Or I could ask it another way-Do you think any northerners (1 or more) want rid of us because of what you claim.

What are you smoking?

But Brisbane Road is below SL licensing ground capacity. How come we haven,t had a pitch maintenance problem in the last few years?

It would not cost much to extend Brisbane Road to 12,000 or even 15,000

Does Hull KR's ground qualify for the SL Licensing capacity? amd Brisbane Road is much better.

[iMay[/i give us better income but outgoings on our own ground would probably be significantly more too. I suspect the £200K or so we pay to Quins is a pretty good deal.

5 years of Rugby League every Summer must have taken its toll on the pitch - a wise move by our landlords, especially with Harlequins top of the league at the moment, and a great opportunity for new supporters to jump on the 'Broncos' bandwagon icon_biggrin.gif

Of course the club should look at other long term options, I am just pointing out that financially the current arrangement is probably not that bad.

Yep.....it's because last time we played them early in the season at the Stoop their fans attempted to burn their shirts in disgust at gestures from Matt King icon_cool.gif and us handing them a bashing....which was the catalyst for the begining of their run of pretty good form since....

It would be a bit extravagant to extend the ground just for our match though.

I thought Hull KR's capacity had been increased to the necessary figure since they were first promoted. Anyway, Crusaders played Superleague matches at Neath, an antiquated ground which I doubt could safely hold anywhere near 10,000, so a precedent exists for clubs to be allowed to use smaller stadiums when it suits them. Let's face it, the chance of selling out Brisbane Road, which is only slightly below 10,000 in capacity, is remote.

Sorry I was meaning if Brisbane Road was ever considered long term, you are quite correct about Neath, depending on how much we market the Bradford game and Leyton Orient seem to be behind it we may get a lot better attendance than currently at home! though it would need more than one game.
