| I was under the impression that Phil Bailey was now our main man for player recruitment, particularly from Oz.
I believe that Frank Napoli was signed up after providing some carefully selected video footage, probably pre-DVD.
I'm not writing this guy off prematurely, it's just that his signing doesn't exactly set my pulse racing.

Really? What sort of quality and perspective are we talking about here?

To give you an idea of the framing, have a butchers here DL copy and paste this.
Curtis Johnston 2011(rounds 16-26)North Sydney Bears NSW Cup
then go to the link
On top of that, there is computer software available that lets you highlight a player's involvement in a game and is used extensively here in Oz. You can then show a player, every single piece of work they did in a game.
Anyway, you get the jist that as a player you or your agent can create a DVD of your highlights to try and flog to you.

| Actually as I'm bored. If you want to see what touchies do, go to:
NSW Cup Round 14: Newcastle Knights v Auckland Vulcans
you can hear their comments to the ref in the vid. And in the very last try you can hear a touchie say "forward" for the ref to say "let him go" and award it.

| I'm aware of all of that happening but signing players solely on the basis of these shabby DVD's is ridiculous to be honest. To get a player a trial or something perhaps, but not for a 2 year deal.

Mate. It's how it is. Recruitment personnel go to games and view players too obviously. It would be the quality of the player rather than the quality of the DVD Dave.
Souths signed the player in the link I sent you for this season. Check out their first grade squad.

As the article mentioned it was probably Shame Millard who saw him play. I believe he played at Thirroul Butchers after finishing in the UK. Not sure if he is still involved there.

Wow, comparing Jamie Peacock to Shane Grady?
Signing park footballers is not the way forward for this club. Powell has been able to turn some quite handy SL and NRL players into a team of absolute rabble, imagine what magic he can work with Group League players!

If Powell is in charge next season we may as well pack in because these players will continue down the path they are allready on and the day of one man and his dog spectator is fast approaching.

Yep. jbuzza. But he's now the assistant coach at St George Dragons reserve grade side, the Illawarra Cutters.
Funny enough Glen Air was at the Butchers also. (Let me know when you want your alarm call to wake you)
