Then another couple of years & we'll be back to when Roy Close found the club was just 2 sets of goal posts & some shirts.

| Further to this I see from the post match interview with David Hughes he still harbours hopes of retaking SL status. I have no hotline to what IMG are planning but I can’t see that happening in a million years so, I fear, all that type of thinking will do is distract from the job at hand of getting a strong Championship side together.

| Don’t know if you’ve seen the you tube longer interview with Eccles but it makes grim viewing on the recruitment/retention front. Clearly a lot of uncertainty and basically another season where we dont have a structured recruitment prior to season’s start seems to be on the cards.

Indeed BT, it doesn't sound great & throws even more light on the shambles IMG & the RFL have made of things. Can't see how the game can progress with such amateurs in control.
Wish Cake didn't say "mate" so much, it does grate.

| Natoli to Pia. I suppose if the club don’t feel they are in a position to make an offer to players then players are entitled to go elsewhere. Seems a slight step back to me but there we are. What next Sid to Pilkington Recs? So far our recruitment is going as last 2/3 years -poorly. sigh!

If it's a choice of Pia or Pilkinton Recs, Pia wins hands down, great place to play rugby & Pia Donkeys is such a great name as opposed to RFL Donkeys. Didn't Whare come from or go to them?
There is no logical reason why they can't offer contracts based on p/t Championship games & renegotiate if need be. Is this another episode of brinkmanship from Hughes?

I don’t know the ins and outs but did wonder whether this was a situation that IMG had placed us in and there was no way out or if we were, to some extent, playing silly beggars again. If it’s the latter-I’m just not sure how successful that approach has been over the last few seasons.

| More potential reverse recruitment with Warrington local paper suggesting Wolves are chasing Leyland senior. Would be a good move for him. No doubt we will line up a suitable replacement tout suite.

Is Tout Suite also a half back BT?
How much game time would he get there? Granted the coaching probably would be better & of course the money.

According to his agent DC. Played a number of times there a couple of seasons back for the Raiders (West Wales branch). Understand he’s also a good goal kicker as well-what could go wrong.

| And another one potentially out the door, although this one one does strain credulity somewhat with Totalrl suggesting that SL clubs (plural) circling for Miloudi. Seems a nice fella but……….

| Bienek I can see getting some interest but with a profitable London based non Rugby job I suspect he might stay. Parata with a non rugby job in the north might go to a Northern champ side or may retire- quite a few head knocks this season. Campo to Elite 1 or Toulouse I can see and Butler and Waine to a lower SL club maybe/ or maybe more game time at London in the Championship would be more sensible. . Rourke is a certainty out the door to an SL club. Storey to a northern Champ side- a fair bet. Any others?

It sure doesn't leave much in the way of quality or experience.

All a bit grim really. Also struggling to identify too many ex Broncos who can come back for next season. Hodson and Hindmarsh at Castleford currently. I’m mean we could change our recruitment modus operandi but that may be asking too much.

| Recruitment season really hotting up with Matthew Shaw now reporting that Trinity leading the race for Rourke. Slightly underwhelming for him but may be a good fit. In other news we’ve signed xxxk all. As you know there are quite a few variables not yet crystal clear for next season like whether despite telling us clearly we’ll be in the Championship we may not be and whether the season will start on a Thursday or a Friday and whether the cost of milk will go up one or two pence. Who dares wins eh! Fxxx that you can’t be too careful and leaving it to the last minute has proved to be a successful strategy over the last few seasons. Sigh.
