| I said it before but I'll say it again.
When I first heard of the 2 x 12 into 3 x 8, I thought 'what a pile o sh*t, only the RFL could dream up such bo&&ox'........BUT
Play around with it a bit.....look more closely at the implications for the middle-order, not just the smaller clubs trying to be one of the big-six.....and suddenly it starts to look quite good.
Suddenly Fev' and Sheffield and 'Fax have something to play for, suddenly teams can't just coast 'til the end of the season and do a "London" or a "Salford".
Rugby League in this Country has NEVER followed what others do, but has always inovated and changed to suit itself. 119 years on and we are still here.
Yep, the new formulae has grown on me, when we try it, if turns into a Pig's Ear, I'll be one of the first to say so, but personally, I think it will work.

| I don't care if Fax or Fev or other pit villages with other super league clubs within 20 miles of them have a chance to get into SL. If the game is to get stronger we need to raise the international profile which will be achieved by beating Australia on a regular basis. Therefore the game needs to get out of the M62 and allow a pathway for players. There are plenty of SL teams in the heartlands where a good local player can go and play. There probably won't be in London in 2015 which to me is bad for the game given the huge strides made in juniors playing the game down here. The tap of new talent will be turned off

| At the moment I'm just trying to concentrate us starting in 2014 rather than even contemplating where we will be in 2015!

And as long as the small clubs on the M62 keep acting in their own clubs interests as opposed to the good of the game it will remain thus.

| I agree with Paddock. Let's hope something good comes out of this year as 2015 looks like a backward step.

| For me it's yet more evidence that the club won't be around in 2015.
As for the rest of the game, I think it's a crackers idea designed to allow the smaller SL clubs to reduce their expenditure and still get a crack at the big boys. What the RFL should be doing is attempting to create a genuine elite league, instead they're pandering to the mid-ranking clubs. The future for RL in this country seems to be as a training ground for the NRL and union.

| How Catallan could abstain on such a major vote? perhaps we got the three Leeds players on loan, for our vote. The Super League still have to agree about how they go about having more control of Super League, but Big Nigel said this week, no way!
The whole idea is a set back for the game, no wonder Scottish Football rejected something similar.

No offence but Broncos are clearly one of those mid-ranking clubs looking to reduce their expenditure. If the RFL did push an elite league that condemned the mid-sized clubs to oblivion then Broncos are going to be the first casuality.
Personally I think that it is vital to the game's health that mid-sized are kept alive. Huddersfield and Salford would have been written off if an elite league had been created 5-6 years ago.

I think the Broncos are dead at the end of this season, reshuffle or not.
In a general sense the game needs a genuine elite league that can pay players decent wages and provide good facilities and opportunities for recognition. Otherwise we are doomed to be nothing more than a feeder for the NRL and union. Spreading our limited resources around the second tier clubs does not bring about the changes we need, in fact it does the opposite.

| We need Sky to start paying a fair amount for the Broadcasting rights so that the lower end clubs like the broncos, Cas Wakey can cover all their operating costs and not just the players wages. We have to get BT to get involved in the bidding process for the next round or the game will continue to decline.

Long term the strength of the SL lies in the league ladder below it. The lower leagues are where we have seen expansion. If you want sides like Sheffield, Skolars, Hemel, Crusaders etc to kick on and get to a position where they might have a go at SL then it is essential that they have a healthy competition to play in the meantime.

| Hedgehog is spot on!
And London fans should start opening their eyes.
We will be in the 2nd tier, especially if the likes of MacKay stay in charge, therefore the 3x8 P&R system actually works in OUR favour, we wouldn't have a cat in hells chance of promotion without it. THIS gives US a chance in the future!
In fact you could argue that the RFL has come up with it, specifically for London's benefit, let's face it, throwing money and exemptions from rules our way hasn't helped (largely because of the pratts in charge, true, but it's failed nevertheless).

| I'd also add that although Danny Brough is the Man of Steel in 2013, he failed to make the grade in SL first time round and only got back into the big league after a stint at Dewsbury and York.

| RFL struck a five year deal with Sky for the 2012-2016 Seasons when they were the only game in town. Now BT, Premier Sports, ESPN, French TV companies (and even the BBC wanting to hang onto a bit of sport) are now in a bidding war for sports rights.
This long term deal now appears very poor news. I think it was vital to re-negotiate the overall TV deal before 2017, and they would only get away with this was after a radical format change. Not a surprise we have one and that the change is unanimous, but with a lot of wrangling in the background about what it might be.
There might be as much as £1-2M a year per club extra from a new deal, pretty attractive to most SuperLeague clubs who lose £1-2M.

| Yep, the money from TV is vital, and I actually approve of the RFL spreading it to the middle order, as this is were a lot of talent comes from, also it gives those who never quite make the grade a second chance and gives some old pros somewhere to have a last season or two.
The 3 x 8 with P&R, effectively means that even if London slip back to what we started with at the birth of SL (which last season with 2k averages looks to be pretty much the case), we should still be in with a chance, perhaps a better chance than the old 2 up and 2 down system.
When you play about with it, it makes sense.
