There's something in the idea of at least farming off the local players and bringing in another pool of antipodeans - when I start to compile a mental list of the players and coaches who've (in some cases literally) busted a gut for the club I get names like Jim Dymock, Steele Retchless, Peter Gill, 'Tank' Gordon and Tony Currie. No comment from me on eveything else as I'd just be repeating what others have already posted.

Saracens have brought in some rather well paid players. I think it is safe to assume the likes of Jamie O'Callaghan, Ben Bolger and Dave Williams won't be too worried about the introduction of the 50 pence tax rate today.
Where is the money coming from to follow the Saracens model? |

If we're gonna get tonked might as well rip up all the big contracts - with a few notable exceptions - and play the kids. Build for the future with all the youngsters playing for a spot on next years roster.

Yer lets play the kids and get beat by 80 points rather than 50. Our kids can't even compete against their counterparts at the moment, never mind in SL. From what I have seen, the only half decent player turning out at the moment is Lamont Bryan, and I guess he isn't a kid anymore. The rest are useless and would struggle to get a game turning out for Amateur teams in Yorkshire. |
