I think the comment was in respect to him not caring about losing fans rather than about the club in general. If he did care about growing the fan base then he would surely have directed some of his 10m towards that but he never really has show much evidence of it.

I have no doubt that DH cares about the club, as shown by the millions he has spent propping it up.
I also have no doubt that he is a terrible decision maker and man manager.

Unfortunately our chairman is a well meaning amateur.

The few times I've spoken to him I can only agree with this observation.

I subscribe to the ezine so I get them to but it is a terrible indictment not to contact your lapsed fan base. It ain't difficult with a database and email FFS! I went to watch Ireland v Australia in the World Cup at Thoman Park and get regular emails from Munster Rugby, I have been to NFL games at Wembley, same thing, I have been to the races at Sandown Park, guess what?

I'm hearing something untoward may have occurred at Leigh with regards to 'substances'. Not sure what the level of truth is so certainly not hanging my hat on it.

Less than 10% of his substantial investment in the club since 2008 has been spent on either retaining or attracting fans to games. Now he doesn't care if anyone turns up, because he gets nowt anyway.....he's managed to halve his annual investment in the club, which is fantastic news for him and the 500 remaining fans. The 3,500 who we've lost since 2007 are worth a hypothetical 70k a game.....but Hughes doesn't care. He gets to watch HIS team and feel less guilty about how he cut the clubs throat in 2013.


A fair assumption, but surely it would be better to actually ASK THEM DIRECTLY. PP is a lapsed ST holder, basic CRM would dictate that it would be easier and cheaper to get him back than to try and attract a new fan.

As for Hughes caring. I never said he didn't care about the club......I said he doesn't care about the number of fans who pay to attend games. He hasn't a clue how to run a professional sports business and what made it worse that after Paul Brown "left" Hughes employed others that didn't know what they were doing either.

Leigh are the only chance of anyone going up and that's is 100% down to Wakefield doing a pretty good impersonation of us circa 2013. They put the cue on the rack at 22-0 and fair play to Leigh for coming back, but I suspect that when they meet again in the middle 8 and probable Million pound game, Wakey will have too much for them.
As for Fev and Batley....we've done them both this year and I suspect we'd get 50 stuck on us by Wakefield.

I don't know GF, I think Leigh & Bradford have a real chance, Sheffield... well I dunno'. It's starting to look like if we had recruited properly we could have bounced back, but thats history and we need to start looking at the 3rd 8s and next season!

I would not look into the results too much yesterday. Widnes in 2nd gear and just played very badly, and still won. There is more intensive games in Superleague and once play 7 games i am sure most of the Superleague teams will make it. I only see Leigh with a chance and cup games teams give it all. One off games.

I think the first comment on this thread includes the comment that there will be no promotion as gap is too big.
Leigh have now beaten 2 sl teams, no reason they will not do same in 8s..
2 points of view on Sun game Wakefield out cue on rack one view other view is it took Leigh 45 mins before they got into stride and were better team.

I reckon we might sneak in to top 4 but will be 7th or 8th at end of 8s
