| Quote Please read HKB's statement again - the club have set up a program, the prime intent of which is to deliver fans (not just the kids, but their parents, siblings, peers, older brothers, younger sisters), but it can't because of the timings. Are you remotely aware that some members of staff at the club can't attend fixtures as they're working for their community clubs at 3pm? Doh.
'"
Why then have the crowds against Wigan, Halifax, and Warrington at home been so small when the amateurs had not commenced their season?
Let's see if the crowd reduces now the RLC has started which will prove your theory to be correct that the amateur game will hugely increase our support inc of friends, family etc.or alternatively reduce it now they are playing at the same time.
2000 for the Hull game then. As the thread is about seating, based on Toe'ys theory there will be no requirements to open the ends.
It makes me laugh how many connected people there are on this site. For the record Im just a season ticket holder in the cheapish seats. Does that preclude me from an opinion or must I just applaud those [iin the know[/i who continually offer up the "answer" to London RL problems based on there jobs outside of RL

No, no, no, no.....you're still not listening to me.....it is a LONG TERM PROJECT. It doesn't happen overnight and it hasn't happened yet. Bridges to build. They have not come to the games on mass so far (you know this I am sure) because they (generally) are peeved at a) 10 years of being p1ssed around b) can see that as the season progresses they have not been considered with all the Sat 3pm k.o.'s. There is an apathy towards Quins RL from the wider community fraternity. And it needs to be repaired, like anything, over time.
Honestly - you can either accept it from me. Or ask them yourself. Or ignore it all together. I'm not honestly that bothered, but I have a right to make some logical suggestions and observations too. I have done the research and I know what people are saying.
I can only assume you're being stupid or faecitious or both with your comments on 2000 for Hull (it's a 6pm btw, which is much more preferable for community clubs than 3pm)
Btw, I respect your opinion, like I respect everyone elses. I just don't agree with it. And I suspect that you would come to every fixture on a Sunday, like most hardcores. I would just like to see the best of all worlds, and cutting out upwards of 50% of London's RL loving population, to me, would seem to be a strange move.

| Elsewhere it's posted that no other SL club plays on Saturday, but comparing Quins to any other SL club is irrelevant. Most other SL clubs play at least some of their home games on Friday should Quins RL?
No other superleague club plays in such a massive city, nor has a core of supporters that come such distances to watch the team play.
That alone is enough to rule out Sundays as the public transport is poop as we all know.
Still though would seem sensible to play at 6 pm giving the oppertunity at least for those busy at 3 to make the game.

Crowds were better than they are today PP
Saturday was some sort of holy grail and the thing that would make all the difference.
It was done to pamper to the travelling away fans and guess what, we are in a credit crunch when away fans simply cannot afford to travel
It seesm that if you compare the two there is far more going on each Saturday whether it be RL or other sports which prevent people going than there is on a Sunday
Maybe all the northern clubs have got it wrong by playing Friday or Sunday. Clearly the only Saturday afternoon club having the smallest........and shrinking crowds is just bad luck.
I reckon its bad design
Just my view though

No other club has to battle with other things to spend you money on in a city the size of London but on the flip side no other club has such an unblievable catchment area. It stretches for miles and miles and miles around London. In fact anywhere south and anywhere within 90 miles north could say Quins is their closest club. Wow, what an opportunity !!
I would argue
Leeds Rhinos don't play on the same day as Leeds United
Wigan Warriors don't play on the same day as Wigan Athletic
Bradford Bulls don't play on the same day as Bradford City
St Helens don't play on the same day as Liverpool or Everton
Salford don't play on the same day as Man Utd or Man City
Quins RL however play on the same day as 13 football clubs in the same city
Who do you reckon has got it right ?
Saturday 6pm would NOT solve this issue.
I understand totally your point about the travelling home fans but I suspect that decisions on when we play may just have to be taken in thew consideration of new Quins fans, not the ones who come as visiting fans, not those who prefer Saturdays so they can get ed but NEW fans
Without NEW fans the club will I suspect be dead and buried by the end of this franchise
I bit of out of the box thinking is needed here

| Your 100% correct, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Fulham and West Ham never play a game of footbal on Sunday Fact is that the majority of football games country wide no longer kick off at 3pm Saturday.
What's your solution to the poor public transport on Sunday. Leeds, Saints, Wigan, Bradford, Salford all their core support live within a few miles.
Comparison is irrelevant, Quins RL have to find their own solution.

| What's wrong with a LATE Saturday kickoff 6 or even 8
I work in transport the worst time to travel in LONDON on a Saturday is between 12:30 and 16:00
Plus people have jobs
I support wire, im a wire lad in london and i would watch the Quins more often if they had later kick off times.
Play your amateur games in the morning (like they do up north).
I played for Parkside i'd be up go and play have a shower come home in time for lunch.
It's not rocket science
[ufree tickets[/u
Go to all or at least most of the high schools within 10 miles and give out two tickets to each pupil so they can bring their mum or dad some will come and get hooked (maybe even spread the world).
In the 80's at my school they would give out Wigan tickets as a reward for good behaviour and even though i was a Wire fan i would go (if it didn't conflict).
Would you pay for a sport you perceived as naff?
basketball or ice hockey or something you knew hardly anything about.
Most people would answer no and wouldn't give it a chance
but if you had free tickets you'd probably give it a go and there might be a outside chance you'd get hooked on it.

| Toe'ey- I accept what you say and accept what the other posters after you have said. It appears we dont know what our target audience is. You are targeting the RL players/coaches and other posters football supporters. Hoggy when he spoke at the last forum suggested it was families in general we were targeting. Maybe thats the problem?
Surely its not that simple
How many RL players play on Sat at 3 and out of them what proportion would watch Quins. Not losing sight that there aren't that many teams within 20 miles of the Stoop.I would hope Quins aspirations stretch far beyond what I suspect would be a small target number.
Man Utd dont worry about local players not watching them as they play on a Sat afternoon.
Im not sure what the answer is.

I think that's the nub of it. It's bad enough on Saturdays trying to negotiate public transport in London, but on Sundays most people (other than die hard quins fans) would just give up.
And as for persuading non rl fans to come to their first game, ease of transportation to the game (I would have thought) is quite important.

I suspect and of course I don't know that fans of smaller clubs are maybe the most likely to do two sports, purely based on cost. So what time these clubs play is maybe irrelevant
Quite honestly who cares whether its difficult for away fans. Quins have to find a home fan base and not pamper to clubs who don't give our fans a 2nd thought on kick off times. Just how many fans travel by train these days ? 10% ? Cars work on Sundays as well as they do on Saturdays , maybe on quieter roads ! I suspect that the hard core of fans who travel to away games in London would come irrespective of the day
Quins do have to find their own solution but Saturday afternoons IMO and it may only be my opinion is NOT the solution. There is little evidence to support the view that it is

| I think for me the key thing is the dislocation in strategy. We can spend all day discussing who is and who isn't the target audience, and what is or isn't the preferred kick off time for whatever we each think that target audience is. But one fact is pretty clear: This club, and the RFL generally, have decided that the best channel to new customers is a community marketing programme. It started with Deakin at the Bulls, and spread into the rest of the game - and indeed then on to our Union brethren. It has also been shown to work on many, many occassions, and has the very useful - but secondary in a marketing sense - spin-off of expanding the potential player base.
I have no issue with the club following a different strategy, if there's evidence it will work better. But [uwhat I do have a problem with[/u is the club investing a load of money in the community marketing plan with the one hand, and then making it impossible for that to deliver the targetted new customers with the other. It borders on the bizarre.

I think nnl01 summed it up best, with regards to transport issues, travelling on public transport can be very difficult on a Sunday, and most other clubs have a very small geogrpahical radius of fans that enables them to play friday evenings.
Haven't they done the kick off times vote twice, with Saturday afternoons narrowly edging it and both times they have said the votes were spread fairly evenly over all kick off times (Fri, Sat and Sun) so whatever day they choose they are upsetting roughly two-thirds of the voters.
