Interference at the play the ball. The Wakey players suggested the idea and Bentham agreed.

Oh, and I thought he played very well for his first game back. icon_biggrin.gif

I'll await the opinion of someone who isn't a Dorn apologist before making any judgements.

I had a suspicion you would say something like that.

It was a blatant professional foul & I don't think that the Bent Pig needed any encouragement to dish out the fully deserved yellow card.

I thought Dorn played well given how long he'd been out for. I was hoping he might only be given a 20 minute spell in the second half to ease him back into things but he looked like he could have coped with playing the full 80.

Personally, I thought neither side was great - just thans Quins were less bad than Trin.

Hope you have a good run in the cup.

Good to finally get a win at last.

Looked a bit better in a number of areas. Made several brekas in the first half and made almost no handling errors. A definite improvement on the first game of the season where we regularly got blasted back in the tackle.

Still looked a bit clueless close to their line and shocking defence for their second try. Kicking was a mixed bag - a 40-20 and a couple of drop outs forced but also plenty of aimless stuff.

Had no real complaints about the sinbinning.

Thought Purdham and Sharp had good games, though no one stood out as being particularly awful or special.

Bentham had no choice with Dorny
he made the tackle and then instead of releasing the player he kept hold of his ankle as he tried to stand to play the ball, it was after the wakey player broke our line and we were chasing back
No doubt a pro foul which gives the ref no choice but to sin bin

In Dorns defence it was not obvious that the tackle had been completed, but at least we did not ship any points when we were down to 12 men

Real negatives today
AGAIN we passed the ball behind the attacking line, must have been 3 or 4 times today, ball which was then swept up by the opposition!
To many silly penalties giving away easy mtrs

The best things about today, other than the result was the way we stuck at it and would not let the game go. In previous games we would have collapsed. Our attack was better in the first half and our defence was sound in the second. Another encouraging result and we did build on the Saints game. Good to see the crocks back, Temata makes a difference. BJB MOM for me.

Well done to the Wakey fans for travelling in good numbers and good voices.

I'VE GOT MY OYSTER CARD AND I'M GOING TO WEM-BER-LEE !!!

It would have been a sickener if we lost today, because we would have swept them away in the first half but for some errors, it could have been 30-0 at half time. Even then, if it hadn't been for Howell's twist and finish, we might have blown a 6-against-2 just before the break. Nevertheless it was a terrific defensive effort late on, during and after the sin-binning, though how Wakey blew two against one in the far corner on the last tackle five minutes from the end, I'll never know. Shocking miss. I also think Bentham was going to give Howell a card just before then under the posts, but the fact that he'd already given one to Dorn made him change his mind.

Really good turn-out by the Wakefield fans, but weren't they quiet?

We cut them open time and time again-I dont think its any coincidence Clubb played his best game having Purdo next to him.

Sharpe and BJB played well. Sharpe skinned his winger for pace in the first half.

Negatives for me-No composure 10 out from there line-The ball kept going left to right losing ground ending in a useless kick.

If you look at their tries one was an 80 metre break and another came from a nothing kick which we didnt deal with. They didn't really threaten us with moves

Re Dorn's sinbinning, I guess the question is what would have happened if he'd let the Wakefield player carry on? Presumably it would have been a penalty to us. These sort of situations crop up a fair number of times, where the player in possession and/or the tackler are unsure of whether the tackle has been completed. I reckon refs should be a bit more definitive in calling "held".

One more negative is that we seem pretty clueless in the opposition 20. I appreciate, though, that we've not been in that situation too often this year!

On the plus side, it was good to see them playing the game at an increased tempo in some periods of the game.

I think it was a difficult call for dorny to make, from where i was sat he did not look as if his ball carrying arm had hit the ground or his moment had been stopped, and it looked like he was back on his feet and was going to carry on
But sat in the stand it is difficult to hear the "held" call, same as we cant hear "dominant or surrender"

Saying that despite my constant bickering at him, Bentham had a pretty decent game, re on side off side he was standing very deep, as in 12 mtrs, although i did think Sam obst was always off the mark early, and it is the TJ's who actually advise on the onside/offside, same with the fwd pass that was missed, again thats down to the touchy
He did pick up a few offsides for markers not standing square, but what folk forget is if an offside player does not effect play in anyway then there is no penalty

On another subject, how many times did we get held up over the line? I think thats a rule change needed, i think the re set should be 5 mtrs out rather than 10

Don't think it would make any difference to us, and I think it reflects credit on the defensive side.

Oh, and one other gripe. Could we be a little more ambitious with kicks to touch from penalties?
