| Quote: Homer "1. Back your claim up with viewing figures by region.
2. Complete rubbish, they are heroes to nobody but specifically they are not nor do they appeal soley to "chavs"
3. You bang on about filling the stoop so what's wrong with "chavs" [which by the way is such a 2005 saying]'"
After a very successful 5 years providing services to the Premium Rate telephone industry I can catagorically state that 75% of my clients revenues were received from areas that are referred to as CD1's. This social group are more likely to enter competitions and vote in polls using Premium Rate telephone lines, as it is a perception that they aren't actually handing over "cash" to do so. CD1 is the predominant social group in Wakefield.
Secondly, we have seen the massive impact that George Sampson had at the Stoop. Dance days (we've had 2 this year) DO NOT WORK IN TW2! Maybe Diversity aren't "heroes" to anyone, but neither are they of interest to your average sports fan. They might go down well at half time at a Basketaball match....but if they were on at half time at the Stoop, I think the bar would have more people in it than the stand.
Thirdly, as much as I would love to see the stoop full for a RL game, I would not be targeting any particular "class" of people. But I will point out that Twickenham and Richmond where we are based is a predominantly AB area......or put another way, Middle class and therefore an Urban Street Dance Group would be less appealing to the domographic of the people who live within 5 miles of our stadium.
Yes, I bang on and on and on and on and guess what, since I started banging on in 2003 and being ignored (for the most part), the club have managed to add "0" fans to our average gates.
I have never said I have the solution, but I tell you what....those people who have been paid over the 6 odd years to provide a solution have failed and as such, I will continue to bang on.
Sunday 2 weeks will be my last Home Game and as I have posted elsewhere, 9,000+ is needed to just achieve parity with last year. Somehow, I can't see more than 3,750 and that will include a fair few from Cas (average 3,567). Last year we managed 2,112..........brilliant!
Without wanting to sound Like Rupe1 or Stormer and I would never desert my team, I will say the club have provided a perfect example of how to f^ck up another opportunity this season.

| I really don't think you can compare George Sampson to Diversity. I can't stand all those talent shows and really don't give two hoots about dancing but when someone showed me a clip of Diversity I was blown away - they are amazing and if they didn't attract a crowd to the Stoop then no affordable entertainment act ever would.

| I agree Rupe1 not comparison at all between a group of tallentless chavs and a singular tallentless chav ..... it's your mention of hog roast as proper food where your argument falls down.

so, is the masterplan to have Diversity at every home match, because otherwise anyone who came specifically to see them once would be unlikely to go again. Perhaps we should play all our matches as double-headers with the union team, because on the one occasion it happened our official attendance was 12,500?

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

| Quote: rupe1 "They were playing the Crusaders who probably brought around 12 and were rewarded by an amazing attendance.
Why can't Harlequins RL do the same?
Because they are too busy competing with all the London soccer clubs on a saturday afternoon, putting all the fans into one stand, providing the most boring rugby in super league in front of ever more embarrassing crowds.
I will say it again, unless things drastically change the club will not get a super league licence next time around.'"
You may be right on some points, but you're wrong about us losing our licence. Nice stadium, geographically good, good junior production line. We're ahead of Celtic, Salford and Wakey without pulling a crowd or winning a game.

| I recall commenting on the fact that I thought there was a large proportion of kids at the game against Wakefield compared to some NRL games. I was informed by someone on here that it was because they had come to see this George Sampson fella.

If that is true.....I'm not sure how to assess it.
your average before this game was 5,842 and you got 7,893. Let's say that the Celtic game would have matched the Quins gate of 5,079.....just to be fair, then 2,814 people turned up at £10/£5 a pop to watch Diversity.......and excluding beer, food etc.....you needed to get £18k back from these people...so £6.40 each. Honestly, how many Kids were there? If the 2,814 were all kids, you lost £4k but if they were all over 16.....you made 10k.
More importantly, you got your second highest gate of the year and your marketing team should be applauded!

All pre booked tickets were £10 not £5.
