| Dave is completely correct there must be so many talented youngsters down under that their clubs would love them to get Super League experience.

That isn't really the point though is it. The issue is whether we should be allowed to operate under a different set of rules to other clubs.

| Quote Dave Lister="Dave Lister"This is true, however there are plenty of young players who aren't making the grade in the NRL and over the hill Aussies who would love a year in London on loan/a low wage. I swear most people on here would prefer either no club or a club full of Championship rejects than a competitive side full of Tony Rea's shrewd signings.'"
If the better Northern players wont come down here i believe this is the only way forward but the Clubs up North are looking as well as us as the player pool shrinks. Can we really recruit better than them? Theres no way in my lifetime we can recruit a full team of Londoners which is the only alternative.

Well I don't know how old you are but I think at the rate that we have increased in terms of our local production over the past 5 years or so, then I think a team full of Londoners is perfectly plausible within 20-30 years, if they grow up within a competitive club.
I am the first to be critical of our younger players who are pretty much consistently failing to make the step up to SL but compared to the days of the original Broncos (when I first started following the club), our youth set up is infinitely better and we are occasionally getting breakthroughs and judging by our competitive efforts in the Under 19's, I have hope that this can continue.
The reasons the better Northerners won't come down here are well documented and obvious apart from to that simpleton who didn't quite grasp the concept of London weighting. Aussies will still lap up a chance to play for us, I am sure of it.

| According to some posters on the VT you're now allowed to have 7 non-quota players as it is - So wouldn't be getting a massive advantage with 10.

| jbuzza, No what we are looking for are loan players, under RFL rules we would never be able to bring in big names under current salary cap, but it seems we may be able to top up with the increase in non federation players!
I stand by though that the RFL are making a major error cutting back on Academy teams, is that not the future of the game? or is it just me knocking the totally incompetent senior staff at Red Hall LOL!

IMO, the club is clutching at straws. The situation is shambolic.

It's not just the club clutching at straws. Reading the current board topics, some of the fans are too!

| Just to add another part to this thread, I had a chat with Tony Rae towards the end of the season & asked if he could recruit a couple of "Brick #hit-house" Polynesians who could run through anybody or anything & be able to catch the ball.
He said his contacts in Australia had given him a few names to look out for in the World Cup & he was going to see how they turned out with a view to making a few signings if they looked good enough.
Hopefully they wouldn't cost too much & if we survive would add some power to the squad.
