| Quote: Roy Haggerty "For the factual record :
On the subject of allegiances, I'm no different from hundreds of other London fans. I support London against every team except Saints. I see more London games live every year than Saints games, and I and my family have been season ticket holders at London while I've never been a season ticket holder at Saints. I'm not sure applying McCarthyite loyalty tests is the way to go to maintain or increase London's crowds. Suggesting I'm some sort of Saints troll just because I disagree with the majority view on this board is a bit off, to be honest.
I don't have a long association with RP from South London. I left the club to become a referee long before he arrived. I had several seasons where I reffed a couple of games at South London a year, and would talk to RP (and the opposing coach) when I was there. When I returned to the club briefly last year, RP was already long gone. I have no contact with RP, and haven't spoken to him now for nearly a year, when he kindly popped back to a South London training session last year to demonstrate a few drills and give the lads a boost. He's a good egg, but not a close personal friend, or indeed, a lover (as some seem to think).
Good post... depressing though.

| Detailed analysis and smug, self-righteousness aside. Good coaches win games. Powell couldn't win a tombola. He's got a chance to turn things round. Let's hope he does it. I can't see it though.

| Rob Powell's Super League record to date as head coach:
35 games, 1 draw, 7 wins and 27 losses. Points for 702 (22) Against 1,229 (35).
15 competition points from a ible 70....21.4%?
Please find me a professional sport where a manager would survive with a record like that?
BTW.....if we win on Saturday, his record will still only be 23.6%....unacceptable IMO.
If David Hughes, as has been claimed on here, financed this squad to be competative and as a result, attract investors and fans, then Powell has to go now, because the team at the moment will only attract flies the way they are performing. IMO that is.

| I don't see this position as being Powell's last however it ends, but I cannot see him getting anything much in the heartlands. Maybe at best the opportunity to work with Mac. You couldn't see any full time club taking him on at Championship level either. Something like Head Coach at Hemel or one other of the new franchises would be suitable. Or maybe Gateshead Thunder. At 31 he would have 20 years or more in front of him but next time more likely from a realistic start.
If you were to pick a game in which you wanted to save your job you'd pick Wakefield as they have won just once in six visits to the Stoop and are not known for back to back performances. I'm surprised we are odds against at home against this team. Given that we have a full pack and are missing only one squad man and have played reasonably at home I'd think we should be evens.

Justin Dooley. Find out about him and offers and withdrawing of offers. That was far, far worse than some geezer who strung the club along after being offered a contract only for the club to think they'll simply go and get someone else.
So once again, it's not the fault of the club.

| Now there's a blast from the past. Decent player.
Have to say I'm with Rooster on this one. IF the club offered a contract and set a date it had to be accepted by, and it wasn't, they are within their rights to withdraw their offer. A fairly standard negotiating tactic within the sporting world.
The issue of replacing Andy with like for like / better is altogether a different matter.

Of course the club are within their rights to withdraw an offer but it doesn't look like we did it from the position of having a decent Plan B.

| Justin Dooley must be the most penalised player in SL history - at least as far as I can remember, which is basically Dooley being penalised all the time, strong runner though. In good company with Paul Davidson.

| Saints and sacking a coach. An example of a significant change in approach, attitude and desire to win.
If we win tomorrow we limp on to another half hearted effort or two under a coach who can't inspire at the team talk. Lets face it, after half time have we scored first or have the opp come out more inspired. Salford, Castleford from this year, add the rest. Last two years 20% win ratio overall. Exclude last year and its 12.5%. Win tomorrow and its 22% sounds like success.

| 100% so far (120 mins). Its not so much about the person in charge at present more about the significant change of attitude of the players at Saints.
