| Quote: Deadcowboys1 "Narcissist or not, it is hard to comprehend just how dumb Hughes must be to get us to this state.'"
He refuses to admit he is wrong. It's not a matter of dumbness, more a matter of denial.
It starts with wrong appointments......look at this statement from pre-season
Quote: Deadcowboys1 "I’ve appointed a young, highly spoken of, Head Coach who is impressing me with his enthusiasm during the transition to part-time and I am genuinely delighted with the squad we have assembled on the budget we have allocated him. There are some very talented players in there alongside the experienced older heads that every team needs to bring on the younger players. We’ve also got a number of hungry ‘project’ players that could prove to be astute signings from the league below us. '"
Who the $√€k speaks highly of Coleman in terms of 2nd tier football? Even in the 3rd tier he was rubbish and now he's employed 3rd tier players......the panic signings of late aside, he had from November and this far were hurtling towards the trap door.
November 24th was the last time we heard from the owner.......0-5 in the league, out of the cup, borrowing loan payers from skolars for the first team and reserves, crowd numbers nowhere near what was expected, no staff in key positions, disarray amongst rival supporter groups with many long term fans alienated or worse, banned......
He's not dumb. He's spending money on this and will see the empty seats and our position in the table.....he will just never admit it's his fault. EVER!

6 games (and 6 defeats) in Mustard is offering up the excuse that the players on the pitch only trained together as a unit for the first time the day before the match. Who's fault is that ? This is not an excuse that can possibly wash again.

| Interesting to read this again Orange. In terms of Coleman I think Skolars fans generally felt he did a decent job with minimal resource. If that is where we are then he may turn out to be a good fit, although it pretty dispiriting stuff for a relaunch which anyone could see coming a mile off. One thing is certain he was not ‘highly spoken of’ on here. The concerns coalesced around his record of losing more than he won year in year at the level below. Well here we are- he still has a little time. Things may turn around a little.
As to the squad DH may have invested very little in which case it may be true he was impressed with what he got. IIRC the issue of the lower league ‘projects’ was brought up on here at the time. Many of us were unable to identify the subtle difference between the lower league projects and the lower league players full stop who seemed to flood in on a weekly basis over the closed season.

The point is Mustard is a league one coach, and is being found out at the higher level. I don't believe DH hired him on the assumption we would be in League one next year (in which case it would be a good signing). But the squad we have would struggle right now vs swinton, rochdale, doncaster, which is very worrying.
Our entire season seems to be based on being slightly better than Dewsbury and Workington, but we are allready two points behind Dewsbury... Ominious times

Of the L1 coaches in 2021, which would have been considered WORSE than Coleman. When appointed he claimed he wanted to lead us back to superleague....
His win ratio in the third tier since 2015 was akin to about 26%.......I am in awe he got as many years as he did at skolars, but for him to get lucky and then sign his crap squad from last year is unacceptable.
As you point out, projects is a luxury we didn't have when relaunching.... He was a bad appointment and when compared to Ward, it makes me think Hughes is winding us down so he doesn't feel guilty about pulling the plug

This is my concern too. It is the only rational explanation for (at least some of) the decisions Hughes is making.

Yes you’ll recall we pretty much unanimously on this forum raised the concern that a coach of a struggling L1 coach might find doing well in the Championship a problem. I assume Tsang was tainted by 2021 (whereas JC wasn’t- go figure 7th in Champ bad, 11th in L1 good). I assume he’s an impressive character and no one else suitable was availabie. It’s really the L1 squad that is the difficult one. It can only have come about because of bad decisions in the planning stage and false assumptions as to squad retention and the ability to recruit from the North. The logic on the latter point has some plausibility but, sadly, has proven to be wrong. As to the former I wonder about the timing of the PT announcement, whether there was fallout from the Ward exit, whether pay was an issue, whether players had become disillusioned - in fairness they were playing in front of 3 men and a dog so maybe they felt the club was on the down. I don’t know personal circumstances or what they are being paid but some of the players don’t look to have moved upwards. We have to hope a few decent loaners become available in May and aren’t all snatched up by rivals. I think that is a possibility then before next season LB management really need to plan properly and in a joined up manner.

It’s an explanation - poor decision making is another. I get the wind down aspect but of course it’s the huge investment in ground and training pitches that is the only non L1 part of the puzzle. I suppose the plug could be pulled on that but then, as a courtesy, we’d need somewhere cheap and cheerful to play. Trailfinders hire for 4 hours on a Sunday I assume and training on Richmond common - if such a place exists.

They’ve got 50 odd players as well so we could loan a few.

| Back to the subject in hand
The Club has no paid staff to carry out duties that are key to delivering match day experiences
The Club has asked the OBSG to fill these posts on a volunteer basis
The OBSG seems to be more about social gathering than getting involved
The LBSA continues to sponsor the academy, but sees no merit in volunteering when the clubs own version can't be bothered
The CEO has decided to employ another Commercial Manager and a Media Person, but has not addressed the elephant in the room, which is fan disenfranchisement and therefore the lack of volunteers
Bradford are upon us in 10 days time and we've had no promotion or marketing for possibly the biggest gate of the year

| Facebook, twitter and email neglected, no marketing, 5 days until KO and fewer than 400 tickets sold to what should have been one of the biggest gates of the season, no staff in place and no "overt" request for volunteers from the club.
I fear we are nearing the final chapter
