| I know someone else has commented on penalties, but I have to say I didn't see too many poor decisions - by the referee. We easiuly outclassed Wakey and yet were happy to give away needless penalties. Not good.
That said, overall, a good team performance. Briggs looks a very useful player to me - and welcome back Dorny!

Noticed Calderwood was not in the 19 announced but played. Does this mean that Kouparitsas, Riley, and Temata who were in the 19 but did not play are all injured/unavailable?'"
Kouparitsas and Temata were sat in the wings of the west stand in training gear so I assume they were available but not chosen... for whatever reason. DSWG wondered if Pryce had gone back to Wigan. He was sat behind the players bench, having a pretend fight with Lamont - both in civvies so had not been considered for the Wakey game... for whatever reason.

Don't know if the ref's decisions were poor its just that they seemed a bit odd!
Thought Briggs was good in the first half, didn't see as much from him in the 2nd - and I just hope to God that Dorny's injury is healed for next week. He was holding his side following a tackle late in the 1st half and all the way through the 2nd.
I've often cricisized him but I thought that Jamie O'C was excellent on Saturday, best I've seen him in ages!!

Londo06 understands what I mean, it was not that Briggs was somehow outstanding, and I agree that Gale played better; the point is we had two genuine halfbacks on the field and that makes such a difference at this level. Playing one halfback and a hooker pretending is just not good enough at this level, especially as that hooker is solid rather than spectacular. Sometimes you just need a better balance and that's why Briggs was the key, not because he was spectacular, the team had a better balance.

It is a bit like Danny Orr, you really missed him when he was not playing, and we have missed an organising, controlling scum half all season. Gale will play with more freedom with Briggs on board they were the Donny half back partnership and know each others game. You can't expect too much from a young guy who has only been in town a few days. We need a tactical organiser who runs the team round the pitch, we have players who can do the fancy stuff. I think we did well on Saturday against a bigger pack without Temata. HKR should be a step up but if Dorny is fit we can at least give them a game. If JOC is an answer to one of the centre problems then we have a hope of (a) not finishing bottom and (b) getting a couple of wins and finishing on a stronger note. Encouraging.

| Agree with almost everything said on here:
Gale excellent
Briggs - did OK and contributed to a tray, also his kicks for touch seemed good
Temata, if he was fit we needed him on bench
Pryce - i hope he hasnt left, despite everything he can contribute
Calderwood - good to see him play and i thought he played well, though not MOTM
Riley - not really impressed, so no great loss
J O'C - excellent game
Dorn - he adds so much
Seems when we play with that level of intensity things go much better, can we do the same on saturday? Hope so

Agree. I thought the ref had a good enough game, in fact I hardly noticed him. I don't want to be too negative when we essentially played well; worst case scenario at half time was that if Wakey got the first try of the second half we might crumble under the psychological pressure of not having won for months, but when we kept it tight and got the next try it was game over.
Some of the penalties we gave away were just annoying though. Silly, blatant fouls on the fifth tackle. What's the point? Wakey were able to get some cheap points as a result of these offences. This really illustrated to me how teams can build pressure by capitalising on opponents' indiscipline. On several occasions they were able to march 20-30 yards upfield and start a new set when they were on the verge of having to turn over possession in their own half. Our attacking play and finishing was good, we took our chances and couldn't really have been expected to score many more points, and for the most part we defended well when we had to, but towards the end our indiscipline simply gave Wakey too many opportunities to put us under pressure. When you look at last week's result at Hull - 38-6 - we should have been looking to limit Wakey to just one score as Hull did to us, not the four they eventually got. I hope the coaches will go through this with our players and spell it out to them the need for better discipline, because in a close game it's going to cost us dearly if repeated.
On the whole though, and enjoyable performance and a big "well done" to everyone involved.

| Despite the result I had a great day.
The staff were all really friendly and the facilites are great.
I wish the people of London would get down to the Stoop as there is a great product
on offer.
Congrats on the win and all the best for the rest of the season.

| What I did enjoy was John Kear pulling his hair out at the antics of his team. At one stage he through down his notebook in disgust. That's why the West Stand is the best, you are closer to the action.

The West stand is best decision the club has made in year, Rob powell gets the benifit of my "advice" heee heee
It just feels better, we are closer to the pitch, the coach, the players, both home and away get the feeling of the crowd,(small as it is)
Good move opening the ground

Happiness is like peeing in your pants. Everyone else can see it but only you can feel the warmth!: |

| I was at the Stoop on Satarday to see my team play live for the first time in four years. First of all I did'nt know what to expect apart from what I had heard on BBC london commentary and what I had read on here.
Because I had not seen these bad performances I can not obivously use that as a comparision. From watching Manly for the past 4 years as a base I thought Quins looked a very organised and well drilled side. I really could see much wrong with the Quins side I watched from the Lexus stand on Satarday. I was however very impressed with the following aspects.
- Monster defence around the ruck area, which it seemed was a bit soft from the commentaries I have heard thus far this season. Burnett really impressed me.
- Last kicking options were bang on, tons of metres being made by brutal forward runs and then a high ball option with a top class chase to put the Wakey defenders under huge pressure.
- Lots and lots of chat from all players, every Quins player looked every part of a Professional outfit, focussed and ruthless.
From that performance I really can't see we got into that horrid run. I am back at the Stoop this Satarday and if we play like that again I see some more points coming our way.

If you'd seen some of our early season performances you'd really have trouble seeing how we got into that bad run - or be tearing your hair out - just like John Kear!!!!
