Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

I have suggested before (once or twice0 that to get investors and sponsors you need fans first...something I get barracked for repeating on here
So you'll be agreeing with me then when I argue about the RFL being happy to provide funding for Championship clubs to try to entice a ' sugar daddy ' when what you need foremost is more fans , then the corporate support will follow that , not the other way round
Some businessman comes for a day/night out at the RL and sees a stadium 90 percent empty , it isn't going to encourage him to invest if the locals aren't bothered , then why should he ?

The principle behind modern stadia is that rather than a 20/25 day a year usage , they need 365 days a year usage, that's why Warrington don't have a supporters bar , just after the HJ was built I visited it and the management at the club , I was given a personal tour of the ground and asked many questions , at the time what was the rear of the now ' Martin Dawes ' stand was being developed , I asked if that was to be a club bar , the reply was no , not much point with two pubs directly outside the ground , a health centre that pays them rent 52 weeks a year was the reply
As GF has alluded to we get sod all from the LSV , we have lost over a hundred grandsworth of sales a year , plus tens of thousands worth of stadium advertising , even if the stadium had been able to pul in some ' naming rights ' it would just get swallowed up by the excessive costs due to public sector management
It makes me

It needs to be the right deal, and it sounds like the Leigh directors didnt act like hard nosed businessmen.

Quote: daftdad "Leyton Orient to move into the olympic stadium with West Ham freeing up Orients ground for RL in the east end of london.'"
Leyton Orient no longer own the ground, it is owned by a separate company that their Chairman is heavily involved in. If the O's do move on I'd suggest it is unlikely the ground will survive as the terms of the sale seem to mean the money would be split between the company and The O's which would probably suit both of them. With flats all but built into the stadium planning permission for further residential development would seem likely.

Who cares?
It has 1 stand.....it would be the worst SL ground and worse than some in the Championship too.....and as for the people that complain about getting to the stoop....this place is served by 1 mainline trainline with 1 train every 20 minutes

...it has a 500 seater stand. If we are kicked out of SL it would be perfect for us to buy and develop with a view to re-applying in 6 years or so.....but as it is, we need a ground we can grow into.....
wasn't having a pop windy.....and if we could sort out access and 3 other stands, it would be an option of sorts. How much do East Hull pay for the golf stand?

1649_1338292262.jpg I have followed the LONDON CLUB since I was in my teensl even though born in St Helens and still live nearby and went to the first game at Fulham, also Big West Ham Supporter:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_1649.jpg |
|
| How inspiring as usual to read comments from the usual gloom merchants, David Hughes was simply answering a question posed to him, if he had answered no London RL will never have its own stadium the same people would have been whining in the same voice, no ambition!
None of us know the long term implications with The Stoop and Harlequins RU? Every club an business must or should have a long term business plan, not just pipe dreams or also having the safe option all the time as pure existence and no revenue channels other than match day revenue and merchandise.

Black Backgrounds/Zoot.gif Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently.

We seemed to manage quite nicely there for five seasons, albeit in the old second division Seriously, it would make a good centre for RL development and it could be used for our reserve and junior sides but the cost would be beyond us so the RFL might have to cough up some money there. Incidentally, in our time the seating capacity was 625 - you really can't trust estate agents!

Its a tough call. We would want a ground that we could, as gutters says, grow into. 500 is a pretty low starting number. If we were going to satisfy SL Licensing matters, we would need the planning permission and the finance in place to completely redevelop the site for a capacity of, say, 10,000? Going any lower seems pretty pointless even taking into account our current gates. At the moment it certainly isn't fit for purpose.
