what next, the black and white minstrel show?
Must admit that although it was great to get to Wembley ,albeit with the biggest ever Final defeat, what really pi55ed me off about that day was watching the highlights on TV afterwards with that t055p0t giving it the 'Big I Am ' leading the team out - embarrassing or what? Pity he used the biggest game so ever for London's Rugby League team to make an ar5e of himself!!
Seeing as how things have been on the pitch of late, thank God for You Tube as its the only chance we have of seeing our team in the CC final!!

I wish Cally and the rest of the Team well for 2010 and unlike the few who pine for the club to fold due to the association with Union or the fact they want a return to the old days when we go for boom or bust.
Storminateacup and rupe1 are a perfect example of what the club don't need. So called "fans" who offer nothing but negativity......just because we play a style of football that isn't to their liking (or anyone else at the moment either)somewhere that isn't accessible by their zimmers or/and because we share a name with a union team.
Good luck for 2010 to all involved!'"

| 16. The Skolars. Again, a topic on which I have been very vocal over the years. The annual game between us is now geared more towards our North London Cousins than us and as such, I believe that they should seriously look at reciprocating this assistance during the season by playing Leigh Centurians, at the Stoop in a double header. Logistically, this can be arranged now if the RFL are made aware of the plan. The games should be marketed HARD and it should be billed as the London Rugby League 30yr Birthday Double Header. I would fill the south stand with free Kids tickets and by fill, I mean fill it. No stone should be left unturned and no avenue not explored/exploited. If the club are going to go down the dance/yoof market again, then this would be the game for it. It should be marketed as a festival of Rugby, with maybe an amateur game on first.
The game in the city maybe towards Skolars but its quins who show the hard working in marketing this fixture on the day.
A double bill match would bring nothing to either side. Skolars would still play in front of a couple of hundred.
While they miss out on match income of bar anf food.

| Skolars play in front to of 300 every week. I would suggest that Quins reward them by ensuring they don't lose out....gate receipts of £3,000 and no more than a £1,000 on the lost profit from residuals.
We play them in the London Challenge which does us no favours, but helps them and their owner.....swings and roundabouts my friend.
I would have an entire day of RL with an u18 game, amateur game, C1 game and SL game, with a beer festival, kids activities and loads of other stuff going on.

Gutters. it is in the City, where the money men are and we don't take advantage of it!?* we are missing a big trick at this game. Why don't we try and sell sponsorship, boxes etc, it is beyond me!

Because the Capital Challenge, whilst great for the game in general is organised in association with EFT securities.........I believe there is quite a strong link between Skolars and this company and that the day is heavily slanted in favour of them. I am not knocking it and neither am I suggesting that we should move their pre CC final event (even though I believe that they fell well short of their target this year), just a Day of celebrating RL in London, with games at the stoop, invites to every registered player in the capital, every school team......everyone we can think of.
dids858 was worried about Skolars losing revenue, but I countered this with quins ensuring they didn't. A decent crowd (7,000+) for this event would cover any "insurance" offered to Skolars.
It was only an idea to try to raise the profile of the game and with it being our 30th birthday, we have the perfect reason to push this...NOW!

| How about this£5 in for everyone.
Get it planned now (ie, ask for the buy in of the clubs involved, the rfl and SKY). Get it publicised.
There are enough rugby league fans in the capital to fill the stoop, so what is neded is to give them a real reason to come and give it a go.
Get Wigan and Leigh involved...try and get as many of them down as well.
This would take a massive amount of work and commitment to pull off, but I honestly believe that if the RFL and the away clubs play ball, this could be a really successful and productive event.
You never know, Rupe1 and SB might even attend

Missing the point Listy. This wouldn't just be about Quins, but a proper London RL celebration. I am sure that people would come and go throughout the day, but the main aims would be to celebrate 30 yrs and raise awareness.
I wouldn't be able to attend......but I am sure a fair few would. HTH

Definitely get Sky involved on this one, Show the Skolars game in the after noon and then our game in the evening as that weekend's SLgame.Call the whole thing the London RLweekend, festival , whatever!! Come on Sky you owe us one for the Catalans away fiasco this year!
A day like this WILL take a lot of work but as our season is now over there is plenty of time to start planning this event. NOW!

Get real. Quins RL needs London RL as much as they need us. The Admirals, for example. Do you not care about them? They provided Clubb and Scarsbrook with their footing in RL.
By all means, just turn up for the SL game....you will be a statistic on the gate and your beer money will still generate revenue. I still say there are easily 12,500 RL fans across the region and if this was planned now (ie the weekends fixtures are set prior to the open draw) then, if played in late July, after the wendyball world cup, you would have over 9 months to market the event.
The 8,000 gate against Wigan a couple of years back involved 2,750 + travelling fans, so we could safely expect the same. Leigh may well bring 500+, so there's 3,250. Add the 2,500 odd hard core QRL fans and we are nearly at 6,000. Next up are the amateurs and the schools...another potential 4,000......and then you have the occasionals, the curious and the corporates....not too hard if planned correctly
