I can't believe its their off season and they are already miles in front of us in terms of good ideas and initiatives. To do it for the league would be a far greater challenge too.

Sorry, but from my experience 'me too - follow the leader' never really works well when applied to marketing.

Regret we will have to develop our own and thus 'original' ideas ......... something that to date the Quins RL have been very poor at actioning.

To be quite frank there are loads of experienced and highly skilled marketing excutives among the current ever so small QRL fan base but to date the management has made little of that potential.

Even an invite to a informal Saturday morning 'brain storming' session with the Club management team & any outside consultants currently on board covering marketing/publicity/crowd building 'ideas' would contribute a valuable input for the club's management & working executives.

We had such sessions - with everyone working at the agency contributing - as a regular event, in particular when 'pitching' for new accounts, at everyone of the five outfits I worked at or managed in 35 years as a marketing consultant & agency director.

What utter tripe.

So the plethera of call centre's in the 80's & 90's wasn't following the leader then?

Nor the creation of the "Direct Marketing" industry and the use of "Direct Mail" to market your products to an audience??

In all walks of life, including the marketing industry there has been leaders and then the followers and to say there isn't, is absolute b*******.

The major sports retailers in London

What about renting a little corner of each shop and putting up HQrl merchandise.

Money making and marketing at the same time

just another little idea icon_wink.gif

Good to see that Quins have just sent out the following email to all RU season ticket holders, lets hope it has the desired affect on forthcoming attendance icon_thumb.gif :

"Summer At The Stoop
Thank you very much for committing to your Harlequins season ticket for 2010. We really appreciate and value your support. With the fixtures out, excitement always mounts and we are already looking forward to the London Double Header at Twickenham on 5th September and our first home game against Leicester the following week. However, there is still plenty of rugby to enjoy before then with “Summer At The Stoop”.
Our partners from Rugby League are having an excellent season and are well placed to qualify for the play offs. There are three very exciting fixtures coming up over the next few weeks and as a Harlequins FC Season Ticket Holder, you can see any of the games for just £5* each - bring up to 3 friends along as well for just £5 each to experience the excitement of Super League.
Saturday 11th July
Harlequins RL v Huddersfield Giants – Kick Off 3pm*
Community Day – a great afternoon of family entertainment including a major mini rugby festival
Saturday 25th July
Harlequins RL v St Helens – Kick Off 3pm*
Down Under Day – enjoy all that is good about Antipodean food, drink and entertainment and also see the current leaders of Super League in action
Saturday 8th August
Harlequins RL v Bradford Bulls– Kick Off 3pm*
Cheerleader Day – a festival of dance and wonderful family entertainment
Simply call the ticket hotline on 0871 527 1315 and quote reference RU to buy up to 4 tickets for each of these games for just £5.
Yours sincerely
Mark Evans
Chief Executive"

Lets hope we don't all get crushed by the hordes of Union fans coming on board - hope the South stand will be ready! 'Scuse my cynicism but we've been their 'partner' for a few years now and hardly any of them have showed any interest, can't really see it happening now.

So why don't you ring Mark Evans and tell him not to bother as you don't think it's a good idea.

There's probably a higher number of union supporters at RL matches than vice versa.

Surely anything that may get more people through the gates is worth pushing.

There's a marketing group of 6000+ union season ticket holders - if this brings in an additional 100 from that group, it's achieved its purpose.
