| Quote: Prince of Denmark "That's the game in a nutshell. Despite the closeness of the final score that was the biggest single difference between the sides. They didn't give us anything cheaply. It's amazing we got as close as we did in the end.'"
Absolutely agree with both your posts PoD. Scoreline a massively misleading reflection of the game. Thought Alibert had a poor game compared with his two excellent displays previously but we have no-one to blame but ourselves.
I struggle to fathom how the same team that was so efficient and sensible in beating Hull not two weeks ago can then be so poor and profligate in possession as they were last night. I can only assume the loss of Danny Orr had some effect. I thought Luke Dorn was largely ineffectual once again and we just made far too many simple errors. We'd win penalties, then on the first resulting tackle we'd try something silly and lose the ball. Utter madness.
In summary - Typical quins.

| As with everyone else I think Hallibutt had a shocker as ref last night. I still cant understand why we get a French ref when playing the ONLY French team in the competition !!!
I didnt even notice Chad Randall was playing until about 30 minutes in.
And until 2 or 3 minutes before the end of the second half I didnt even see Will Sharp touch the ball. Maybe that was the tactic.. don't let him touch it.
Think we missed Ward, Wells and Orr last night... lets just hope they are fit for Monday otherwise we could be handing Celtic their first ever SL victory.
I think if we had scored with that last run, we really wouldnt have deserved it as we were second best at everything.. god knows how many drop outs we had following Bosc kicks

Like how they have only had English referees when playing English team for their entire stint in Super League?
I don't think he was that bad tbh, i've seen a lot worse.
Catalans are a very poor side with Bosc carrying them IMO. We were atrocious, completion rate pathetic and generally terrible. Nice to see Matt Gardner make a decent catch in the first half. I fear we've seen the last of Joe Mbu in a Quins shirt too.

Very badly injured in the second half by the looks of things. He couldn't put any weight on his knee at all and struggled to even get around the pitch, and in the end had to be carried off. Looked to be in huge amounts of pain.

| I know we have British refs when we play British team.. even im not that simple, but they could have given one of the other British refs this game so they were more neutral.
And as for Joe, he didnt look good when he went off injured near the end, looked in a lot of pain

| Biggest problem we had yesterday apart from seemingly being unable to complet a set of six.
Look at RFL aproach to the tackle and the players rolling away. All the refs are playing it the same so it has to be an RFL directive, players are being allowed to take 2-3 seconds before starting to get off the tackle. Look at the 3 man tackle, first man is off quick and sprinting back to the defensive line before the other 2 move, and then they only move when the ref calls move, Cats were utilising this tech, we were not
Apparently it is making the game more free flowing, than expecting the defending player to roll away. New interpretation means defending teams get time to set the defense, so I dont think it was Aliberts fault.
Cats were playing to the ref we were not
In defence, Cats were sprinting out of the line of defence, we we moving maybe 2 mtrs then waiting for the ball carrier, that gives the attacker momentum

| In the past Refs were deemed not neutral if they came from the same mining village, now it has become national. What if Alibert comes from Toulouse and hates Catalans, would that be OK.
Bring in Aussie Refs or would that favour the team with the most overseas players
Look at the performance rather than the ref

| On a positive! if we have 1
LMS!!!!! look at his enthusiasm at that penalty undr the sticks, he knew he was going over the line and nobody was stopping him
after the try, he was the first player back in place to recieve the kick off.
Shortish kick off we took in to the big gap in middle of cats half, only quins player that was there was a prop fwd who sprinted after the ball, a certain LMS.
Enthusiasm, commitment, effort, determination, blke had bundles of it, some of the other players need to take note.
Someone should have told Louie on 5th tackle go look for Bosc and batter him, cant believe we let him have such free reign

good comment, I did not think the ref had that bad a game, as stated earlier we dont seem to have latched on to how to play the new interpretation of the tackle rules

| Sick as I am by our own failings mentioned by everyone already Bosc is a good example of how important a good kicker is to a side. He won it for them imo and I hope BM is actually looking for someone to fill this role for us. We cant continue like this and expect to challenge for honours. Good kickers win games and if you cant get good distance on kicks your defense is going to be under greater pressure each game than it should be. We need to sort out all these seperate issues if really mean business.

Sure!
It is actually the first time for the Catalans to have a French ref. 9 times out of 10 the ref will be English, it is just fair to have a French ref in the competition and sometimes he will ref the Catalans.
I am sure Alibert is a professional in his decisions, and anyway he knows his decisions will be watched carefully after this match. For the Catalans Cup match against Bradford, he gave the first Bradford try as video ref while the BBC commentators were both thinking it was not a try.
I was supporting the frenchies last night (well I am French) at the ground and I agree with those here saying that the problem was the Quins' mistakes. I did not find the Catalans overwhelmingly impressive. They were consistent and solid, and they had a very good start of the second half. But they definitely benefited largely from Quins mistakes which led to easy tries for Catalans, and which ended several attacking phase from the Quins few meters from the try line. The Quins looked good at the start of the game (I would have bet on them before the first French try).
Not to be too harsh with the Quins, perhaps attacking mistakes were favoured by the tough Cats defense. You must take into account that they were on the momentum of their heroic victory against Bradford in Cup (catching back from 0-26 to win 40-38 ). I think they came here to win, and they were pumped up, you could see that in the effort they made in defense.
Regarding the crowd, there was a good ambiance, but to increase attendance, prices should be lower IMO. 20-25 quids plus a 8 quids ticket from Waterloo is too much for the present standard of performance. The team should lower the prices to increase attendance, even more when the results are not appealing for casual supporters.
