This may be totally incorrect due to the mists of time, but I did think that DB was not a great fan of the London "experiment" in some of his interviews in the past?

It's not something I've ever picked up on to be honest.
Either way, I'm sure those opinions would soon become less significant if the opportunity of being a head coach of a Super League club is up for grabs.

| Not sure lack of enthusiasm in the past should rule him out, though inexperience might. Think we need a smarter operator - Cullen (if he has overcome his sad loss) who does have the added advantage of being very articulate, Kear (i dislike) but he has operated within tight budgets and has got results, or an Aussie coach who can bring some names with him.
think we have to thank Brian McD, not a complete success but some progress, but treat this as another opportunity to get some momentum in the club, which feels like its drifting..................

| Quote: Homer "Is Dave Rotheram still one of the RFL's national player development managers?'"
Yes he is. Saw him on the eve of the Magic Weekend at the A fixture between Scotland and France at
Currie RUFC. Funnily enough Keith Hogg was also there as Chairman of Scotland RL.
Hope we get Karl Harrison and thought that prior to Macs appointment. That said looking at his recent
quotes in League Express he seems happy enough at Batley and has business interests up there.
Mac wise I am sure he will do pretty well in his next role and hats off to him for taking up the challenge
in the first place down here in London.

1 Relegation from and 1 Promotion to SL with Salford.
Won what now masquerades as The Northern Rail Cup twice in all it's forms (with Salford and Batley), also beating Leigh in their back yard on the way to the final as well as coaching Batley to the quarter finals of this season's Challenge Cup.
Now I'll give you that that isn't "Major Success in Super League" as you questioned but in a little over 12 months he's turned Batley from Relegation fodder into Cup winners and currently has Batley in a 3 way fight for the Championship play offs on a pretty limited budget.
On top of all that he has been a No 2 under Nobby at Bulls and has worked with Senior Scholars at Giants.
With a record like that I say we'd be daft at least not to have him on the radar as a Head Coach replacement.
Worst thing that can happen is that Quins have a chat with him over the vacancy and he turns us down.
If he could acheive something similar on a limited SL budget at Quins he'd have us all enjoying it and I dare say you'd be kissing his !!!

| Quote: Homer "Would pretty much agree with all of that except to say that I see even less in terms of his good signings if you take on BJB being offered to us on loan, and Dorn resigning after not being offered a contract by.......err BM.'"
BMs recruitment was arguably as miserable as his personality. Lets take a trip down memory lane (and apologies for any lapses).
For the 2007 season, Tony Rea would likely still have been involved for bringing in the likes of Scott Hill, Danny Orr and Julien Rinaldi. Then there was the Yorkshire massive of Jon Grayshon, David Toothill, Joe Walsh, Andy Smith and Luke Burgess (on loan).
For 2008, a few contract extensions (Curtis Melling, Karl Temata, Chad Randall and Henry Paul) but not much in terms of new faces with just Danny Ward and Gareth Haggerty. Henry Fa'afili could have been good.
The boat was really pushed out for 2009 though, with BM building his team around Luke Williamson and Chad Robinson. Luke Dorn was resigned plus Mick Nanyn, Matt Gardner, Ben Kaye, Luke Gale and Jason Golden. BM was rlchuffedrl and thought this was the most balanced squad the club had seen for quite some time.
2010 saw Ryan Esders brought in after a loan spell in 2009 plus Oliver Wilkes, Matt James, Andy Ellis, Ben Jones and Ben Jones-Bishop (on loan).
We've certainly lost some great players in that time (and BM has sent some not so good ones to the naughty step) but of the 20+ BM signings who do you think are the great ones ?
I'll venture Jason Golden was a good one and Andy Ellis may in time prove to be a great one.

| Agree with you re Golden and Ellis. I also think Luke Gale's come on during his time with us and could turn out to be a quality acquisition - if there's a Quins to play for next year.

2007 - Sione Faumuina
2007 - Joe Mbu & Rikki Sheriffe
2010 - David Mills (loan)
