I really do not know why people are rattling on about Joey Grima. He was probably a decent man, but I think he was not the right man to coach our club.
I am glad he has gone, much prefer Hendo.
Joey Grima to me, is just another name to add to the list of poor appointments made by David Hughes.

I only praised him for helping re-engage with the fans. I didn't say I'd prefer him to Hendo.

It's a long line of assistant coaches taking over since our slow and torturous decline beginning 2006. Tony Rea leaves to be replaced by his assistant coach Brian McDermott. Brian McDermott leaves to be replaced by his assistant coach Rob Powell. Rob Powell sacked and Tony Rea re-appointed (assistant coach with the Brumbies union team at that point) then leaves unexpectedly mid season. His assistant coach Joey Grima appointed then leaves unexpectedly mid season. His assistant coach Andrew Henderson appointed.... so you get the picture... there are a lot of assistant coach's taking the role of head coach in those painful 9 years.

Of course it could be argued that the role of assistant coach is an apprenticeship for the head coach role, and that these promotions were all part of the normal way of things. But then again this is London Broncos, and the normal order of things is ill thought out, panic appointments.
I suspect part of the problem is that head coaches with bona fide credentials simply aren't interested in taking the job.

I would rather have an assistant coach promoted to head coach, than take on some has been coach who has failed at other clubs.
However we have not been in a position to take on a coach who is at the top of his game. We have to give someone early in his managerial career a chance.
That is the market we are in.

True, but in Hendo we seem to have a bit of a gem. Hoping that none of the bigger clubs are keeping tabs on him.

We all know they are, and when he takes a look at our new 'home' it may help make up his mind when he gets a tempting offer.

I love the way 'Jim Pooley's entire pitch is that he isn't gutterfax, and isn't abusive.
Then he posts his stats as gutterfax, and posts something abusive.
You couldn't make it up.

Well good luck to the bloke. Nice enough person with his heart in the right place. A number of positive ideas but misjudged the scale of rot in the club and the requirements of the challenge. And ultimately maybe not the right person to drag it kicking and screaming into being a contender.

Whilst your infatuation with me is both worrying and flattering, let's get this thread back on topic shall we?

As I said on the first page:

Each to their own I suppose, but when I look at a head coach and his traits, being able to coach the side would be pretty high up on the wish list, as would the ability to spot the areas that nee improving after each game and working on them. Joe Grima was a cast iron failure in his time at the Club to the extent that even though he walked after 3 games this year, he'd already destroyed this season in its entirety. The gullibility of Hughes at the season Launch in town declaring that the squad assembled by Grima, the one that had a full off season to gel (except for the mates who rolled up late) was good enough to geut us back in to superleague underlines that whilst Grima was pants, Hughes again has to accept his judgement has cost the club again.

I'm sorry if my opinion doesn't sit well with some on here, but that's the purpose of a forum. To discuss topics from differing viewpoints....not to whine when someone posts something you don't agree with and in my opinion, Grima was a farcical failure and reality TV is probably where he belongs.
