Quote mickyb1234="mickyb1234""Yes our fan base is much wider but god knows how many are left or even interested now. Many will consider the new location too difficult to come to from where they live."
why on earth would anyone consider the new location harder to get to from where they live?? Has it passed folk by that its flipping London! its got a train service that is interlinked from all over the place to get there strewth what do we need personal taxis for everyone?
Why is it any harder than the stoop?
Actually in my view its not London and the SE that is our supporter pool! its the whole of the south, draw a line from say Glos in the west over to I dunno Colchester in the east and everything south of that
Reading! Oxford! Aldershot, Portsmouth, Southampton, Brighton I agree marketing that sort of area is a nightmare
So look at it, we went to Twickenham, did the capture the locals work there? nope, we were in Brentford did the capture the locals work there? nope, we went to Charlton, ooh look the locals flocked in ahh no they didn't! This whole view that the locals around a ground are suddenly going to suddenly convert to Rugby League is just daft.
If we win a couple of games, then supporters will start coming back simple!'"
Michael.....I suspect you are spectacularly missing the point.
We have maybe 1,200 fans, who regardless of their frequency of attendance or fiscal value, will travel across broken glass scattered over glowing ambers to get to most of our games. Personally, although it would seem Gus, Tony and Dave don't give a about these people because they didn't bring enough mates, these people are out life blood and they will as much, travel to cannons wherever tube station and stagger to the hive.
The problem we have, short and mid term, is NEW fans.
Most drug dealers subscribe to the give'm something for free and they'll be back, but free is cheapening the product. Also, it would have to be bloody good dope to get potential addicts from Essex over to south Herts.
No....the issue now is 13, or at best 26 opportunities to show that there is an audience for RL in the capital......68 days to sell 5,100 tickets for game 1.......and believe me, the clock is ing ticking!
