I think the point Boyne was trying to make is that the club's inability to sell is probably a bigger factor than our name.

Perhaps so, but a majority did feel the club name did not help and failed!

They weren't asked if there were bigger issues.

This is correct, but the key-word was 'brand'. Heinz is a 'brand'. They sell baked beans. But they also sell spaghetti, tomato sauce, treacle pudding and stuff. McDonalds is a brand. They sell hamburgers and stuff. In your average high street, would you buy a 'McDonalds' or, for example, a 'Broncoburger'? Given the choice
I think most people would favour the known brand.

| Big article in this months Rugby League World which includes an interview with GM and compare it with one with Paul Blanchard which was never published as he left. A few threads on here have meandered a bit and the following quotes could be put into many of them.
"I'm not saying we will have 10,000 people every game next season but I think we'll take steps towards that."
"We've also made structural changes. We have up to 15 football department staff and eight in admin - three more than a few months ago"

[size'hello..is that the sponsorship department at Fullers"?[/size
Yes
[size"great, I was wondering if you'd be interested in sponsoring the London Broncos"?[/size
London Broncos, what do they play?
[size"Rugby League"[/size
Oh, are they in the Engage Super League?
[size"no, they are in the Super League.....Engage no longer sponsor the comp....in fact, nobody does, but that's not important. So, about sponsoring the London Broncos"?[/size
How many people watch them play?
[size"about 3,000 at home and 8,000 away, so about 144,000 all season, plus 2 games on Sky TV as well"[/size
So, you want to know if we would be interested in sponsoring a team with no fans that plays in a league with no major sponsor?
[size"Yes"[/size

| I can't wait to be at the first game with a beer in hand surrounded by RL fans. Really missed it. Prefer it when Spring arrives but so be it. Also looking forward to the otr games. I actually feel it strengthens our independence and identity in a strange way. Hope Orient take a liking to the game and we can form a long term relationship which was never going to happen with quins.

Embarrassing post. I'm not even going to waste my time disproving every point you have attempted to make there. You are becoming worse than Darthchris in posting complete nonsense when you know a lot better.

I thought it was rather amusing. In a warped kind of way, but amusing nonetheless.

Perhaps a few may find it "amusing" more a waste of time and space!

I won't lose any sleep either way...the point is that the game itself has trouble with getting a sponsor, so a small team outside the heartlands with very few fans is hardly going to have people begging to put their logo on our shirts, are they?

Well, if the proprietor's son develops an interest in the game, it might just happen. Like expecting lightning to strike twice in the same place though.

It is what I have been saying for weeks it is unbelievable that Super League does has not been able to find a sponsor with weeks to go to the first game, so it is not going to be easy for us I agree, but I did not think there was a need to mock it, whatever turns you on!
Perhaps St Helens did well to get Typhoo Tea as shirt sponsors for two seasons, which they see as a partnership rather than just sponsorship, the tea will be sold and used throughout the new stadium, I have not seen how much they paid! The Chief Executive of Typhoo, Mr Packer said "I was partly attracted to the St Helens RL sponsorship deal because of its television exposure overseas in countries including Australia and New Zealand" note the brand is also going to change it's main colour from dark red to bright red and Saints will do the same! “We are also looking forward to realising the full potential of the partnership, and increasing exposure of Typhoo Tea and Saints via a host of joint initiatives.
Saints CEO said “Additionally, our community programmes interact with more than 50,000 youngsters, so alongside Typhoo Tea’s Sport For All scheme, we will be joining forces to get more young people active.”
As part of the deal, which will be supported by substantial market investment, the new home and away strips will showcase the iconic Typhoo Tea logo. The brand will also adorn all media backdrops, official club stationery, match-day and season tickets, along with more than 18,000 branded cups of Typhoo Tea being served at every home fixture. Typhoo Tea will also create a family area where young children can go with their parents to enjoy the game, while the club and their fans will support the company’s Sport For All programme, with bucket collections at selected fixtures, enabling further funding to be invested in community sports.
We should be looking at a sponsor that feels they will gain from the association and sponsorship being seen around the North of England as much as London and TV.
