| Quote: Cowgirl Nostalgist "So basically Broncos are a zombie club neither alive nor dead.
Hughes is a serial failure as owner so other than giving yourself something to to do at the weekend what is the point of helping to prop up a club that is effectively finished as a pro sports team.
Maybe it would be best if Hughes pulled the plug at least that way there would be the possibility of AFC Broncos.'"
Backed by whom? You? Come on son, let's see your money, your team and your stadium

| Andover boy, that's the whole point. The doom mongers voice there displeasure which is fair enough and I can understand the frustration.
You only have to ask them the question tho, what are they or what can they do about it, answer is absolutely nothing apart from walking away, result they add to the problem and they miss out watching rugby league.
Personally I want to watch rugby league, if I had the money yep I would buy the club, I haven't and I can't.

David Hughes - The Gerald Ratner of Rugby League? Discuss. Or not as the case may be.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_66844.jpg |

Obviously I don't have the moolah to run a rugby club but fans banded together could hardly do worse than a bloke who has a pro sports team playing on a park pitch.

5 hours ago, you were the bloke talking about "AFC Broncos". Where's your vision, your money, your passion?

| Err ... I said it was a possibility not that I was going to make it a reality.
Still deflect all the attention away from Hughes zombie club if it makes you feel better.
But do you really think he can pull off a Lazarus?

2008::- 2.6 million in income and 1.3 million from Hughes to prop us up. We played in SL, in a state of the art rugby facility and were watched by close to 4,000 a game.
2016::- 300,000 in income and 1.3 million from Hughes to prop us up. We'll play in a wedding venue, watched by 400 if we're lucky.
Hughes has destroyed the club...utterly. It's not a viable concern and never will be again, because we don't have the facilities to generate the revenue needed to replace Hughes. It's not as easy as saying "where's your money" because nobody with any common sense will invest in what he has left of the club.....If I won Euro Lotto I'd invest in the Skolars.....the Broncos brand is toxic....he has poisoned it.
His attitude has alienated other chairmen...he tries to tell them how they should run their clubs.....he even had a pop at Wigan.
Certifiable.....regardless of the money wasted is a tax exemption or not!

| Apologies for being thick here, but am I right in thinking that neither The Changing Man and Cowgirl Nostalgist that have either the ideas nor the wherewithal to improve matters at the Broncos?

Accepted!
I have plenty of solutions that may or may not help the club grow and prosper as part of the community. I also HAD plenty of solutions that would have negated the need to ever move from the Stoop and as those were ignored by the club, even after the RFL told them to listen, I'm not inclined to offer any advice to the 2 guys charged with managing Hughes investment for the next 3 seasons.
Needless to say, given the advert for a tele-sales person to sell networking events that will be managed by the company owned by our commercial manager, I don't see the massed ranks of 3,200+ Broncos supporters lost to Hughes returning. The networking events are also used to identify potential shirt sponsors.....an activity handled by ANOTHER of the companies owned by our Commercial Manager....and the nice membership packs some received recently, guess who owns the design and print consultancy that handled that? The Hughes Gravy train is leaving the station....ALL ABOARD!!

What would you have me do Michael?
Year 1: I'd fly back to London for 3 Months to arrange the marketing and promotional activity in the run up to the start of the new season. Then I'd run the activity remotely from NZ for the duration of the season before returning to the UK in July to debrief and pan for the 2017 campaigns.
The only sticking point would be the cost of my flights and accommodation whilst in London as well as the 1 year contracted fee of £100,000 and the required marketing budget of £200,000.
In return for this investment, I would deliver the club a 100% increase on 2015's attendances so delivering 8,041 additional fans during the regular season at a cost to the club of £37.31 per fan. Take the £20 cost of a ticket away and at the end of the first regular season, the club would have made a loss of £140,000 on Marketing. BUT....if I were to deliver this new average during the 8'S as well, then this loss would be reduced to as little as £32,000.
Year 2: Same deal as before financially with the target being a 50% increase across the board. This is based on 1,462 fans as the previous years average and 2,193 being the new target. If hit over 15 games then these new fans would cost the club a loss figure of £80,000
Year 3: same as year 2 financially and target wise delivering an average of 3,290 per game and the cost of fans now being a £33,000 excess.....
Now Michael, I have no idea if I could achieve these growth figures, but given the amount of cash that Hughes has flushed over the years on hair brained schemes, it'd stand as good a chance if not better than anything done before. Invest £300,000 in my services and £600,000-£700,000 in marketing and by year 4 you have an income from tickets of £990,000......almost enough to release us from our ties to Hughes.
Imagine Michael.....back to the level of fans we had before Gus....it'd be like old times except with Batley Bulldogs replacing Wigan Warriors.....

cartoons/WB24.gif Life is pretty simple: You do stuff. Most fails. Some works. You do more of what works.:cartoons/WB24.gif |

| And apparently there are some actual sports taking place on Sunday, though by page 5 of this thread you wouldn't know there was any other sport than poster baiting.
