Dog.
A fact is not an excuse. It's impossible to be in two places at one time. London community rugby play on sat afternoon. London Broncos chose to play sat afternoon. All those free season tickets were given to people who then had to choose play or watch.
If your sick of repeating yrself then stop doing it. Again you have chosen to make it a dig at DH

WQ I commented on the free season tickets! I didn’t say anything about any marketing! My comments were not apologist as was stated, I merely stated a fact why it didn’t work that year.
Sadly every thread has to turn into a should have could of! DH is terrible. It’s dull! We know! But until someone else comes along itswhat we have, and if he walks tomorrow then we are history

All the more reason to focus on things that could potentially make the club more sustainable.

So way back to an earlier comment. Target for the season has to be re build the fan base.

And my question is valid....."too what level" will be satisfactory in your (and more importantly Hughes's) eyes? 1,500? 2,000? 2,500?, 3,000?

I say we need 5,000 to stand any chance of being close to self sufficiency.....how do you think we will attract those lapsed fans back as well as new ones? What is the point of Ward and the Squad for last year flogging their guts out, just so we can try and survive whilst being watched by a crowd where away fans outnumber home fans?
The Academy growing our own players is great, but without the means to pay them, they will be lost to Union or other clubs......and the only means we have to pay them is Mr Hughes.....so when he dies/leaves, we are 100% cast iron, bolted on bu99ered.......the Skolars are a better run club..... icon_rolleyes.gif

Does not matter what my view is.
Although I would say 5000 would not make us self sufficient.
Go support Skolars then!

I think we will average 12-1500 this season as long as the big clubs bring some fans.

WQ dont thinkyou will be far off with that estimate, although I think we will be closer to 1500 average than the lower figure.

We averaged around 1,300 in that diabolical last SL season at The Hive. That was down from our previous SL worst of around 2,400 in our last year at The Stoop. The majority of that loss was probably home fans. You could argue it should have been easier to rebuild the home fan base while doing well in the Championship rather than (likely) struggling in SL but there didn't seem to be much effort.

1,500 would seem a reasonable estimate but the number of new home fans is the most important aspect. The club should be gathering as much data as they can.

Buzza, it’s been said before, the lure of Batley is not quite as interesting as wigan! Especially for lapsed rugby league fans who may be tempted back.

If you studied our attendance data in Super League you would see a fairly decent correlation between average gates and number of home games won. You might tempt the curious to come and see us play Wigan but will keep more of these coming back if you have competitive games and the enjoyment of some wins. In that respect, the Championship seasons were a good opportunity to grow the fan base but it is a period through which the club remained a well kept secret.

Can’t disagree with that at all, a winning team is always going to get more fans.
But a winning team playing against known RL names eg, Leeds wigan Warrington are always going to draw more than winning against Batley dewsbury and workington
