Another who expected a walk over in the championship.

| From a London Fan who went to the game.
' It's the same old story. Put ourselves under pressure with dropped ball or penalties. Finally start to play last 30 mins and we look good. But too little too late and really not in it for the full 80. For every team we are a prize scalp and by the looks if it they'll all take it at their place'.

I'd say it's the same for Bradford and for Leigh. They're sitting 1st and 2nd....we're 8th.

Daft comment. This isn't about my expectations, it's about what Hughes expected. If he has a long term goal/plan to grow/ build a team then great. If he wants instant success this year what happens if he does not get it?. Would he be prepared to fund a full time team another season?

| Atomic, I don't think many people expected a walk over in the championship, but what most people expected from one of the 3 full time teams is a similar type of performance to the other 2 full time teams, on paper we have a better squad than last year.

| Havenwarrior read the post, that was not from a London fan, so the nomad comment was aimed at the wrong folk, if you read the post it was a leigh fan just saying how difficult it is for any team that come up to Cumbria. We are the last folk to knock anyone for the grounds they play on.

| Honky, I get what you are saying, his statement was that he wanted to get back into super league as soon as possible, was or is that likely this year, debatable, BUT I think his expectation that we should finish at least 3rd and at least be in the mix is the least he would and should expect.
Personally I still think the super 8 s will throw up a shock, others don't, will it be us? Unless we finish top or 2nd in first part of season then doubtful.
I suspect if we fail to make the middle 8 Mr Hughes may pack it in. If we make the middle 8 and compete but don't go up I think he will stick with it. I know there is the realisation that coming back from where we were beginning of last year is gonna take a long time to recover from.

I think the first 5 games have knocked any preconceptions or confidence any of us had about the Championship. The other 2 full time teams look set for 1st and 2nd and the reality is we won't be going up this year, so it is fair to ask if Hughes will be sticking around or not. As an aside, this was meant to be the season that every match counted, but the reality is we will either be whipping boys in the middle 8 come September, or one of the stronger sides in the bottom 8 and neither scenario creates excitement for me or the home support who voted with their feet 2 weeks ago.

| High expectations have proved unfounded and are now well dashed.
We have a newly built squad where almost all of the experienced players were recruited in the off-season by a coach who walked out after two competitive matches. Of the four experienced props who were on the books at the start of the season, two have left and both of the others are out injured, one of them having yet to play a match. We have two short-term half backs neither of whom actually belong to the club. Not exactly a recipe for a successful season.
