| Quote: northernbloke "France has just rekaxed its regulations for uk visitors, but, france is still amber so any squad returning need to quarentine.
Likr it or not, it does make it unworkable for part time squads.'"
Make it simple for you NB, you stated the above as an incontrovertible truth that part time squads couldn't self isolate if they played in France because of their day jobs that you also state are full time. As HB pointed out, the Championship was classed as Elite Sport so should be rugby players with add on job or it is not Elite.
But leaving that aside, I would expect any p/t squad to be made up of self employed who should be able to adjust their schedule to isolate, those able to work from home, who obviously can work & self isolate at the same time & full or p/t students who can isolate & use on line study. That only leaves paid employees. I would expect them to be prepared to sacrifice leave to cover the self isolation period if they expect any sort of RL career.
So NB as you would appear to have no idea whatsoever about the jobs these people do, or how practical it would be to self isolate on their return. On that basis what you state above is not proven.

| Example
Elliot kear. Firefighter is not a part time job its full time
Yck. Adam cuthbertson full time job works for a lettings business
Danny kirmond similar type job full time
Dale ferguson fev, full time plant operator
Joe lyons widnes full time steel fixer.
Bob beswick newcastle full time teacher! Do i need to go on? Majority of champ players work full time away from RL.
RL is the part time job, they still have bills to pay. So yup sympathy with players who cant easily drop there bill paying job to play 1 game in france

| LB were docked winners points and 24 points against them because they wouldn't travel to France. Disgraceful. No other team has been treated like this and that was pre all the vaccinations. They may be full time and able to isolate but they could still bring it back into the country via all the people they meet and are in contact with on the way home. Guess that was too hard for the RFL to think about. You need a brain and logic for some things and sadly they are lacking in both. Either all teams should play or no team should play and they defer Toulouse until next season. You cant have it both ways and affect one team only.

You haven't picked many examples have you? Elliot is not playing while training by all accounts but in any event will have to either be able to switch his "Watch" if a game was to be rearranged in this country. Cuthbertson & Kirmond depending on what they do could work from home or reschedule work. Ferguson may well be self employed so able to rearrange his work as might Lyons. There are still some teachers operating from home too. You can't just say these clubs have players that work so cannot go to France without investigating what those jobs are & how they could be accommodated. If a team had 2 or 3 that were unable to travel then draft in some academy players.

They got to sleep in a college dorm and eat pre-packed sandwiches ....it's rock-'n'-roll is this RL malrky.
The reality is Dave and his mates should have protested day 1, but they didn't. When they did complain, they didn't do it in a very smart manner......nothing new or surprising here.....as long as he gets to watch his team he's happy.

| DC i have actually picked some of the higher profile names as examples. How many of the Swinton squad, sheffield squad batley are players thats have there main income around sport? Or is the suggestion that the majority of part time rugby league players are full time self employed. Think about the self employed lot, no work, no pay.
How did they all cope going to Toronto? Easy fly out on thu come back sunday, tops 2 days off work not possibly 10 or min 5 days off.
UK quarentine rules driving it.
As for how we were expected to travel as against part time and why, i understand why they went down that route, never said i agreed with it.

You are being very simplistic NB. Just supposing the entire 1st team squad at Swinton worked in call centres & during pandemic based at home. Would it be reasonable for Swinton to travel to Toulouse? Yes of course it would as they would be able to continue to work from home while isolating. As for self employed not working not earning, I don't think it is as black & white as that. Work can be rescheduled in many instances. In fact a mate of mine who is self employed subcontractor in construction is off to Spain next week to sort out a problem with his Villa. He has spent the last 2 weeks rescheduling the work he was to do in the time he will have to isolate. He says he won't lose out financially & for once will have time to chase up people who owe him.
The clubs have had months to work out how they can get to France with as many of their players as possible. The decision to allow p/t teams not to go without any apparent investigation of their circumstances was stupid & made clearly by stupid administrators
