Jarrod Sammuts drop goal did one thing yesterday, other than upset his coach, Moved them from eleventh to tenth place in the league. On points difference.

Quote: Bostwick "A good win under difficult circumstances. It is a hard place to go and we had to grind out a result which we did.
A dogged team, Workington are a bit of a one trick pony. All their points and creative play came from Jarrod Sammut, their best player by far, They offered little going forward, but the penalties against us, gave them so many metres and put us under unnecessary pressure. Their two tries, one Alex Walker had his pocket picked five metres out and the other, we kicked on the fifth tackle, the ball hit Sammut, he collected it and ran in to score.
We bombed one easy try by dropping the ball and our kicking game was not all that good. We could easily have paid the price because the last five minutes were rather frantic, with both teams having a real go and either could have scored.
However a good two points,
There did not appear to be any injuries to cause concern either. On to next week.'"

Thanks for the summary. Did any of the players stand out in terms of good performance ? Poor performance ? How did Offerdahl and Kear go in their first starts ?

Sammut had a brain freeze thinking Town were ahead 16-12 hence his field goal.

I reckon sammut knew exactly what he was doing. 5 minster to go, nothing on but chance of a 1 pointer to make it a 3 point deficit, who is then under pressure? The London defence, without the drop goal another try makes it a draw if conv missed, after one pointer it's a different game. Might have seemed bizarre to some but it very nearly paid off they crossed the line just before the hooter but got held up, he gave em the chance they just couldn't finish it.
Never mind we won so that's all that matters

How could there be nothing on but a one pointer ? Was there no possible kick available to try to force a drop out ?

We were defending, Sammut was fifteen metres or so out, slightly to the left of the sticks when he took the drop kick.
Everyone expected him to dink the ball in for someone to run on to. No he put it right between the sticks for a single point.
Not a single person expected it. Okay they got the ball back but they really had to start again and their attack was not too piercing.
So it really was an own goal.

So the only bloke on the world team that had really tested us and only one that had crossed our line has the ball last tackle and faced with options, without knowing what last tackle kick options had worked before then yep am summising but if it had little success previously why not come away with one point get the ball back and attack the line again.

Always was a loose cannon at Bradford so nothing's changed I guess. Anyway, he's entertaining to watch.

Anyone thought "He was trying to dink it and he simply miss kicked"...?

No not at all. It was an intentional drop goal, as soon as he got the ball he shaped up to slot it over and did.
