Are you suggesting that the players get booed off the pitch every time they lose? It's a personal choice, if you have been entertained and watched a player put the effort in then why not clap them off the pitch.
So another question, what have you done or more to the point what are you able to actually do to change the situation? If your answer is to no longer come and watch, well done, but in my opinion that is just adding to the problem, but it's yr choice.
Don't forget had Mr Hughes pulled his money then this discussion would not be happening as we would just be a failed club in the history books.'"
I'm not saying they should be booed, there are many instances when a heroic effort in defeat merits appreciation, however applauding no matter what simply indicates you are nothing but a cheerleader.
If we were to lose 50-0 at home to Whitehaven would you really still clap the players off and if so why?

| Ive been to one away match this year (Sheffield) and I was sure to give the players a piece of my mind as I left the ground after 55 minutes. I was jokingly mocked by the home supporters which to me is fine, but what is not fine is the group of individuals who blindly support the club and players home and away desperate to get a hand shake and a hug from the players at the end. It is absolutely pathetic.
Going to a soccer match this Saturday rather than the Broncos. Very sad indeed but I hope the muppets who keep on clapping enjoy themselves.

Fair play to you.
What baffles me even more than the supporters who clap no matter what is David Hughes himself. I cannot fathom how this man who has poured so much of his own money into the club, can tolerate what he gets back from these players year after year.

| I clapped the players off the other week at Leigh, because I felt they had done a reasonable job in an away game against a better side and had earnt some recognition. I doubt I would do the same for any 50-0 home loss

Sorry if I offend anyone here, but your comments makes you a prime example of what not to have in RL clubs..I think Broncos will sleep well knowing your going watching a Soccer match. And to be honest your probably better staying with that sport as you obviously are lacking education in RL..

rupe1: These days I go to almost as few games as you do, so I certainly wouldn't have the effrontery to criticise those who do go. If people pay their money and spend their time, it's entirely up to them whether or not they clap the players off the pitch and they certainly don't have to justify themselves to you or me.

Happiness is like peeing in your pants. Everyone else can see it but only you can feel the warmth!: |
|
| I want to just lay down from where I am coming from.
I left from the UK to Aus 2 days after we played Hull FC in the 2007 season. Back then we had a team which was looked upon by all other SL sides as a bit dangerous, and by no means easy pushovers. A team that included LMS, HP, Mclinden, Tye Smith, Scott Hill, Chris Melling, Clubb, Matt Gafa, Hecks, Purdham, Hopkins, Danny Orr. Allow me to emphasis the point I am trying to make here. I remember in the 2006 season I went to see the Bradford match at the Stoop, we were 36-0 down at half time, and I think the score at the end was 60ish - 4, I remember Lee Hopkins saying repeatedly that as long as he was in the team that kind of result will never ever happen again. The whole team was shell shocked, even Mike Worrincy. I remember was in the Kings bar head down and just unable to comprehend what had just happened. Mclinden who always was a brash type of fellow was very annoyed and visibly angry about the performance his team had just produced. I talked to Gafa, and he said that if this had happened at Canberra the players would be bricking themselves at the possibility at being put in front of the raiders fans after the match. But he said that Quin RL fans (thats us) had taken it very well, he suffered no abuse, no 'what the hell were you doing out there' or 'your 5h1t'. If he would be in Canberra they would have been lynched.
The fact is that Quins RL/Broncs fans were quite blasé about a performance like that as we would know that things would be put right in the week and they would come out firing the next week with 3 weetabix inside them, and firm kick up the you know what and a rocket inserted up there whatsits!!!
When I left the UK, Quins RL were a force in the super league, and as such we had very high expectations in getting a result against any team we played (especially after beating saints AWAY on the first game of that season in 2007). Now, lets fast forward to July last year. I came up to the Hive (Hated the ground and it is was a pain in the to get there), I watched the Saints game in which we got really battered. Compare our team and performance that day to where we were in 2007, we are light years apart!
But I met up with some fans that I used to go to the games with in 2007, and it seems that they are broken men, very grounded down and really at rock bottom. There was no life in their eyes, there was no enjoyment like we used to have in 2007, the reason they went was only for the beers and company.
THAT IS OUR PROBLEM. For gutters and Rooster who can attest to this, I get to see my dad every 2 years, my sister can't see it but I can see noticeable change in my dad's sharpness and health, he still gets along but a little bit slower and ditherier than he did 2 years ago. That’s how I see you lot who still attend games. Please take no offence to what I have just said or take me out of context. I see you guys as loving our club, but a hard life over the past few seasons has taken the enjoyment out of what you are doing. You have become stuck in a rut and bereft of any life in following the Bronc's. Perhaps this is why the clapping still goes on, perhaps it is going back to the rare dark days in the middle part of that last decade where you know the Purds, Hopkins and HP will fire in the next week and put things right.
Sorry for the long post, I wanted to write something similar to this after the St Helens match last year but couldn’t be bothered!!

| At which point do you advise that supporting your team is no longer worth while - when you're relegated from Super League? When you finish mid-table in the Championship? Goodness forbid when you drop to Championship 1? Is there a points system that you can use to decide when it's right to quit?
None of us are happy that we're losing to Whitehaven, our coach quit etc., but that's where we are. I'm going to support the coach and the team I have.
Rupe - yes, if I think someone worked hard or showed passion, I'll clap him off. 50-0, or worse. I did it when we were being pummelled by Bradford at Griffin Park, I'll do it again this year (although obviously I'd prefer it if we were dishing out the pummelling).
For the record, I'm a bit slower than I was two years ago, but not more dithery.

I hope they do sleep well. Attending this soccer match will be two other lapsed season ticket holders and two our mates who also regularly attended games at The Stoop. A day out at a non-league match is a far more appealing prospect than a visit to a club that has had its soul ripped out. In fact, some Broncos fans might like it, you can usually meet the players afterwards and shake their hands.
