| This must have been planned for some time, else TR would not have a valid visa. Hence delay in removing Powell.
And, of course, thus TR may already be up to speed with squad issues.

Perhaps Tony Rea is a dual passport holder.

| Deep down Powell must be well chuffed that his nightmare of a SL coaching journey is finally over.

| Welcome back Tony.
At long last a bit of good news in these troubled times. I'm pleased that Rob Powell has been forced to step down & hopefully Tony Rea can get the team to start believing in themselves. I'll be well happy if we finish the season playing with some passion & the next few games are really going to test Tony's ability to get some team spirit showing on the pitch & we've now got a sponsor as well. HAPPY DAYS !!

| Quote: Dave Lister "Was waiting for this. Rea got ripped apart on this very forum before his departure. Short memories. I am delighted however as I was one of a small group who defended Rea.'"
tbf a lot of the criticism he received was based on the short termism of his coaching ethos. There was also the rather dubious manoeuvring of John Monie out of the job before he gave it to himself.
That said, it's a stop gap appointment and, although there's little chance of him being able to address some of the fundamental problems with the squad, he might well be able to bring about a change of attitude in the players.

| It's too late to salvage anything from this catastrophe of a season - as Lister said, we should have nipped this in the bud and given Powell the push after Round 8 when things could still have been rectified.
I hope Rea isn't given the job / isn't interested in the job permanently - much as I like the guy that would be a regressive step. We need someone new and fresh, with genuine pedigree, who can sort out the frankly enourmous mess on the field that the club is in. My worry is that with so little room to move on the recruitment front, the new coach will already be starting with a set of players who are complacent and badly coached.

Another memories soon fade!
I'm sure Tony will do his best for us short term, but if we are going to succeed in London then we need the best current successful coach that is available for next season.
