Black Backgrounds/Zoot.gif Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently.

| Quote: Rooster Booster "Interesting stuff.
Do many clubs back home own their own grounds? I have no idea. I am aware that over here, not many do, if any, at all. Manly for example pay Manly Warringah Council hundreds of thousands in rent a year to play there. The council also allow other events there, from Local Rugby League grand finals to public events like an agricultural show, but not in the regular NRL season.
It makes sense here that teams play away from their home stomping grounds, as stadia offer clubs good deals to play at their purpose made venues, like the Olympic Stadium or the Footy Stadium (both with their various sponsored name changes).
As we no longer have a spiritual home in Craven Cottage as such, is it such a hardship to move? Again.'" Apparently the only NRL club that owns its own ground is Cronulla, and a fat lot of good it's done them. As an aside, what always puzzles me about Australian grounds is how little covered accomodation a lot of them have - looking at the Penrith game on Monday there didn't even appear to be a lid on the seated areas, no wonder the crowd was so bad.

| Quote: markrammond "Hello all,
1) Powell retained till end of season and under 20s coach next season
2) New fitness coach from Salford City Reds is working at the club now
3) Lease on Stoop not renewed for 2013 by London Broncos
4) Caro offered contract at St Helens for 2013
5) Gower and Bailey declined Head Coach partnership tandem role
6) Skolars, RFL and other hirers of Wood Green keen to redevelop New River
7) Broncos would need to cooperate if this is to become reality
1) Powell has a proven track record in player development, he does look out of his depth in the top job.
2) Not sure fitness is the real issue.
3) Discussed this with a fellow season ticket holder and we're not aware of a better ground of the right size and standard that is likely to have us. The Stoop is a cracking ground, even if the beer is expensive.
4) Unlikely given they are sh[size.[/sizeitti[size.[/sizeng wingers at the moment.
5) Hmmm not sure about that, Gower maybe has credentials as former international class player (and our best player by a country mile), but does that bring coaching credentials?
6) I'm all for redevelopment of Wood Green but I wouldn't base a SL team there.
7) Broncos need to do what is right for Broncos and going to Wood Green is not right for any team with SL ambitions.
8') Lets dig up Maurice Bamford too.
9) Shame if that's the case as whilst Dorn's defence has been shocking we still need someone to finish the little we create.
10) Don't blame him personally, but will be a shame if we start being stripped of the SL class players we are steadily producing (and I think Clubb has really come into his own playing as a third prop style loose forward).

| Im also unconvinced about the fitness level as well. If we didn't make so many unforced errors and give daft penalties away - how many was it in first 10 minutes against Widnes - and used our bench to the full we wouldn't be so shattered by the end of matches. Because of our one dimentional play the same players are getting the donkeywork to do in each game so it is unsurprising they are worn out.

simpsons/017.jpg Welcome Quins Kitties born 02.04.09 -
Purdo - Determined, loveable with a "can-do" attitude. A born leader.
Louie - Big, white and fluffy. A very noisy prop forward.
Harley- Cute and gorgeous (just like our no.9) Well, I couldn't call her Chad, could I?
Update on Quins Mogs :-
Purdo - deffo leader amongst Mogs. The Capo.
Louie - turned out to be more like Louie Spence than LMS. Re-named Judas.
Harley - Cute but not as gorgeous as our no.9.
Oh well, at least I haven't got a Willy.:simpsons/017.jpg |

Yeah Snoopy, I think the fitness thing is a red herring. If there's one thing that all SL clubs should be at similar levels in is fitness. We apparently linked with St George prior to the season start with an aim to following their fitness regimes etc and we have a very experienced man in charge of strength and conditioning (ex Hudds and Penrith).
Players look jaded when they are making mistakes and have lost their confidence. We score highly in both those factors, imo.

| I give about as much credence to most of these 'rumours' as I do articles in the Daily Star, and am surprised most of you are giving them serious thought.
As a serious point though, where on earth is the money going to come from to develop the New River? Are Haringey Council and the RFL going to magic some cash from somewhere? The development world is struggling for private sector investment as it is, even if certain parties put the land in at nil value. Some of you live in a complete fantasy world.

As for Penrith, there are covered areas in the main stand, but yeah, you are right. Funny though ain't it. Don't forget it's always sunny in Sydney Oh apart from the torrential rain of the last week or so and set to continue.

The Skolars have been trying for years to take over New River, if the RFL have investment funds they would be assets (ala Odsal) and would be a good investment. Never say never.

I think he's a little over-hyped at the mo personally, he has a very good step but that's about it.

| If anyone is interested, it was the QUINSSA AGM last night. Not being one eyed about my rugby, went along as the Quins RU Chairman & CEO were due to speak. Oh and the Aviva Trophy was there too. I knew it was quite a big cup but turned out to be a very big bugger indead
From a Broncos perspective it was quite sad to hear that they have sold 10% more Season Tickets already than last year & how sponsors want to throw money at them. But I guess that's what winning things does for you. They are looking at the financial viability of installing a big screen too.
Anyway the important bit I wanted to mention was that when pressed by a QUINSSA member about the Broncos continuing there, the CEO stated that Broncos have a contract with them for 1 more year. He also said that NO negotiations of anysort had taken place. He expects us to see out the contract. Somebody is telling porkies.
As someone who fell for Strudwicks Life Menbership scam stumping up hundreds of pounds back in the day, I shouldn't be surprised at the current state of the club. Maybe we need a little of that Struddy magic

einstien said insanity is when a person does the same thing over and over again but expects a different result: |
|
| Quote: jaybs "Lets remember these are just "rumours" at present, not that I deny there may be some truth!
The very least it demonstrates that discussions may be under way and ones that may benefit the club, okay we may not agree with all of them but they are the start for real debate once substantiated, it is just becoming sad whatever the club may do now one and perhaps another few will never now agree with anything the club may say or put forward, but at the same time feel every statement they make is completely correct and has no faults at all.
Powell going to coaching such as the Under 20's is a possibility. only yesterday LMS in an article was praising the way he was developed before leaving and we have seen this with other young players, the new line up of coaching staff sounds interesting and I look forward to hearing more. You can understand perhaps that position with Gower currently and his decision has to be respected, he is giving the club first class service on the pitch at present. Regards Dan Sarginson, he has such potential, but as I stated with agents in another thread he wants to think carefully what is best for him now and not short term gain.
The Stoop, and what future there may be, this is going to disappoint some! as they will never see any wrong with it as a venue for us to play, but several press stories seem to be circulating only released today how the on the road matches were relatively successful!
I just think we need to see what does develop but we should all agree some action has to be taken.
This comes from a City that had to buy another Club just to keep it's place! how sad!
not my side of the city pal we earned ours
