Yeah read this and wondered what will happen with GP if Broncos jumped instead of planned housing development?

Brentford's long-term ambition is to move to a purpose-built 23,000-seater stadium at Lionel Road, near Kew Bridge, which they may also share with the Broncos.

the Brentford chairman stated: "It is vitally important that the two clubs can continue in unison as we are both looking to establish a brand new sports facility in this area. An agreement such as this only confirms our joint intentions."

Are the Bees still angry that we mugged them off after agreeing a five year tenancy in 2003 and then pitching up at the Stoop two and half years later under a completely different name

I have followed the LONDON CLUB since I was in my teensl even though born in St Helens and still live nearby and went to the first game at Fulham, also Big West Ham Supporter:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_1649.jpg

Since Barratt pulled out plans for the new stadium seem to have really stalled near to Kew Bridge Railway, recently it was thought that the Bees backer was interested in Wasps, but not to buy as it was hoped but ground share, now I hear they are looking to London Welsh, 23,000 seems a little big for Brentford.

London Welsh crowds are normally around the 1000 mark. My understanding is that any newly promoted clubs to RU Premiership need their own ground or to have prime tenancy on any shared ground. Personally, I enjoy watching London Welsh play where they are.

I'd like to think that we'd be further down the line than a championship rugby union team in terms of getting our act together and any plan that we got involved in with another party would be one that suited our needs, ie one that allows the other team to aim high and allows us to have a chance of making the ground look at least half full, so a ground that has foundations set in place for expansion but an initial capacity for instance of somewhere between what Griffin Park and their 20-23,000 aim.

No harm in the testing the water to see if there are any interested parties out there, ie Brentford, AFC Wimbledon, London Welsh RU, etc as year-round usage really does make a stadium pay for itself, rather than be a millstone around a clubs neck.

A question for anyone who may be in the know

How much will building a new stadium anywhere in London cost and how much is the men/man in charge prepared to fork out.
Is sole ownership the goal or is 50% ownership also acceptable?

What capacity are they looking at, i mean 23k although great to say you have a 23k stadium is simply too big for a team that can't even fill one stand in a 15k stadium.

We can't even pull a 4k average and people are harping on about 20k+ capacity stadiums costing millions of £ that we don't have, or have any signs of having icon_lol.gif

What a thread. I might see it in my lifetime, but for a lot of you, I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope.

About 10-15 years ago you were basically looking at £1m per 1000 seats for a new build stadium. These days costs are much higher, but in London the land is the real issue, the logistics of building in fairly central London have both positive and negative conitations, and obviously the costs of labour in London are higher than elsewhere.

At this stage, and with David Hughes at the helm (in no way being disrespectful) I can see no alternative but a groundshare with a football or rugby union club to achieve the aim of our own new-build stadium.

Costs for extending capacity, even when steps are taken during the initial build process to facilitate expansion are exorbitant. This is however the route that I would take, build a stadium that meets both parties needs and desires, with the ability for both clubs to be reaching realistic goals for say 10 years down the line, ie London to be playing in front of 15k+ crowds.

Listening to a number of cricket chief execs and both codes of rugby it seems clear that year round use of facilities is key, with private functions at the ground a key figure in balance sheets of clubs that have their own facilties.

Castleford's new ground is likely to cost £15m for 13k, St Helens Langtree Park cost £25m for 18k, so I would put costs at time and a half for London, but I couldn't say whether that is conservative or an overestimate. I would like to think that something that suits our needs, the needs of our prospective partners, and our tandem dreams could be achieved in London for around £20m.

I think it is a reasonable dream and aim to think that we might find a partner club to co-fund a say 14k stadium and that we might be able to come up with £10m if DH stretches his personal finances, uses loans, we find investors, gain assistance from the RFL, etc. No-one is saying this will happen in the next few years but say a decade from start to finish is a reasonable process, and it starts here with the identifying of potential partners and sites. The club can limp along but what happens when DH's money runs out, we are the next Toxic Crusaders. I would rather go through the exhaustive process of actually trying to get something done, rather than just hope that Harlequins don't put the rates up, or that they decide the extra wear on the pitch isn't worth the few quid that we give them every year.

This is probably a good time to build. Lots of construction companies without work, so they'd bid hard for the contract.

I totally agree! but 23,000 is a large stadium even Wigan Warriors struggle at times to look good in their 25,000 seater stadium. 2012 is going to be good to see how the plastic turf goes at Halton as I fully agree a stadium should be used all year round, play all junior club games on it, have local school finals etc. St Helens at Knowsley Road were letting the local St Helens Town AFC use the ground but they do not want them using Langtree Park hiding behind it would cost 5,000 per game to run the stadium due to health & safety, it will be sad is a great new stadium like that is used so little in a year!

Some people may think we may not all see London Broncos play at their own stadium or co-owned but age either way is no guarantee what lies ahead for any of us! fingers crossed though! LOL

As DH said at the fans forum, Premier League sides and even Championship sides aren't interested in sharing, so we have to find the right partner, and 23k is lofty even by Brentford's aims. Saying that there has been the move towards building a stadium for a known market, ie one that can and will be filled, with room for increased numbers of new fans and for further expansion down the line. Basically the smaller the better with us, but we must retain the ability to expand to a decent size, and call me an optimist, but is it inconceivable that London could be playing towards 20k crowds in 20 years time.

If Salford can get Sale onboard surely we can convince a winter sports team to at least see if the numbers add up.
