The last Sunday away game of the season should be targeted. It is;

[sizeCastleford[/size [sizeTigers[/size vs [sizeLondon Broncos[/size
Sunday 12th August 2012, 3.30pm, Wheldon Rd.

From some quick calculations via Google, Twickenham to Cas is 203 miles or on a good run 3 hours 26 minutes. Here's just a suggestion;

Leave at 10am (or even 10.30), add in a couple of stops at service stations to pick people up and lets say it takes 4 hours all in all. That gets you into Castleford for 2pm (for a 2.30 arrival based on the 10.30 departure). That leaves an hour and a half before KO.

Someone will be able to fill in the gaps here, do a drop off at a nearby pub and at the ground for those who want to go straight in and have the coach meeting behind or as close too, the away stand, as possible.

Fill the journey up with a Rugby DVD and when the bus gets lets say 30minutes from the ground have a CD put together of songs that will get the 50 or so singing and starting to build an atmosphere for the game itself.

Even go wild and have a theme as its the last Sunday away game. Beach party, fancy dress, inflatables etc whatever.

I do think a station on the way would be helpful, though it would depend on where must people were coming from. If 75% are local to the stoop then stopping somewhere else may not be the most convenient solution, let's not worry about the minor details yet. Work on the assumption it's the stoop and possibly one station or services along the way.

These have been great days out before so should try and get some

Cool, but will it be the last away game of the season?

That's fine, the idea of there and back in a day is a non starter for me. Cheap rail fares and hotels all the way.

I'd rather go up on the train tbh. Live just down the road from KX and Euston, will cost me a lot to get to Twickenham.
I'm tempted for Widnes, Wigan, Hull KR and maybe Warrington for the first half of the season.

Why not do a pick up from King's Cross? Probably the most accessible railway terminus in London. From there it would not take long to get onto a motorway.

You can join my splinter group travelling on trains if you want. Can't see me wanting to stay over for many of those apart from wigan which I can't make anyway.

They're all Sunday 3pm kick offs, so I won't be staying the night for any of them. I've only stayed the night once, Leeds away in 2010, and that was cause I got a return ticket for £11. icon_cool.gif

There and back is the way, especially on Sundays.
Booze from 9am on the way up
Pass out on the way back
get home and look up the score

The idea of filling a coach up is as I have said before cloud cuckoo land unless it is for a "special" trip as was the last one I organised which was the last game at Knowsley Road. You can already see the problems - can we pick up here, there and everywhere which as Darth says can add ages to the journey. I have already set up alerts on East Coast trains for the cheap train tickets and as last year am happy to buy 8 or 10 each time hoping I wont be stung and will have enough takers. That way get the advance ticket price and a group discount, if you wait to find out who wants a ticket then you can miss the cheap ones. In fact if anyone wants to put their hand up for a BINDING commitment to any Sunday games now I shall put you down.

No cheap train tickets (certainly on the way back) for the wire game on 12th Feb but will consider running a minibus from Staines station for the West siders again let me know - how about someone from the East side try and organise one from there, as we know have thousands of fans apparently clamouring for away travel (looks like the same old suspects to me though).

BOOOOOOOOOHHHHH (thought I would get that in before Wirequin).

I'd be up for the minibus.

I think I've seen it mentioned before, we should target games against lower league teams, and hope a bigger away support helps the team. Maybe Wakefield? Salford?
