| Don't see the point of it at all, if it's going to be in the heartlands. Might as well get rid off it and have 26 weekly rounds. Most of the fans are probably going to home after their game, or turn up solely for their game, so there's still going to be plenty of empty seats anyway. Pandering to the flatcappers.

| Tend to agree with Pinky.
Really disappointed that it's not going to be in Cardiff and after all, Manchester has the Grand Final (I was completely underwhelmed by the lack of atmosphere in the pubs round Manchester on Grand Final day. Not a patch on Cardiff during the Magic weekend.)
Doubt that I will bother going.

You need to find the right pubs for the GF, its after the game where everyone clears off that Manc loses out.
Would be nice to have the event somewhere else, even doing the GF every year gets a bit much in terms of big party night out in a city.
Add that city of manc isnt that great a host venue for something like MM - it being neither in the heart of the town (cardifff) or have adequate on-site provisions (Murrayfield).
Seating wise there isnt a bad place in the ground but when you are going to be there for hours and hours you want more than a good seat.

At least London don't hike up their prices when we travel down to the Capital for our marvellous weekends. I stay quite near Kings Cross and pay the same whether I go for the weekend in Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter and also enjoy seeing a west end show on the Fri and Sat night before travelling home to Hull on the Monday, so you can see why I'm delighted to say ttfn to Cardiff. '"
I believe it's called "business".
This weekend, I have need to visit London. We are staying in our usual hotel in the Twickenham area.
I can usually get it for anything between £99-£139. This weekend it's more, due to a game being played.
Also, the parking, usually free, is an eye watering £35 for the Saturday (fortunately this time we're on the train).

I agree with expansion and if they try one of the other city venues and they have the nous to keep their prices the same for the magic weekend then I'm all for it.
grannyfan Cindy'"
So you're all for expansion, as long as the local businesses don't inconvenience or insult you by trying to run a business?

Complete rubbish. Since when was Manchester a hotbed of Rugby League? Or is your definition of an expansion area somewhere that is far away from where flat cappers live, somewhere they can't make a day trip out of?

How so? The point of the Magic Weekend was to take the game to a new area. Now as Manchester already has the Grand Final, how is that a new area? Also given it's ridiculously close to the vast majority of clubs in the league, I don't see how they're going to want to stay overnight and watch all the games? It's taking away the meaning of the event and it's just like a regular fixture, given most fans will turn up for their game. So there's really no point of it then, especially as you get a larger crowd for a regular season round, then you do for the Magic Weekend round. I've been to the COMS and well it's in the middle of nowhere, unlike Cardiff, which is so close to the centre and the loads of pubs, so I can't see how it's better.

| Manhester is a day out for most of the northern supporters yes, but not a weekend, though that doesn't mean to say some won't make a weekend of it, who knows, some fans may actually enjoy the weekend? Who has been to magic weekend and heard the fans there calling for it to be binned? Not me.
I'm looking forward to a long weekend with my mates up in manchester with lots of rugby league involved as well. And I've booked into the city centre premier inn for the 2/3/4 June just on he of chance they put it on the special long bank holiday weekend we are having for her majesties 60th year in charge

After the GF most fans all head back to wherever they came from, same will happen after MW at the COMS. The party atmosphere in Cardiff and Edinburgh was amazing.
Shame.

The Grand Final isn't an expansion event, Old Trafford is the biggest stadium in the coutry apart from Wembley, therefore it is used as our final. Who cares if people aren't going to stay overnight? Why is the number of pubs near the ground relevant? I thought people went to these events to watch Rugby League, and fans will be feasting on that, not getting lashed on Mild in the nearest Holts pub?
Like I said, the COMS is a taxi ride away, go with some mates and create a party atmosphere of your own, its never stopped me in Manchester.
