| For me the major turning point in the momentum was Burnett's pointless and needless penalty. At that point Hull had only progressed about 20-30 metres in their previous couple of sets and were looking demoralised. Instead penalty given and before you know it they were up the over end scoring and getting some belief back.
Quins do also seem to concede some very easy tries. At times it's like the defence just opens up and invites the attacking team to walk through untouched and score. Completely baffling.

| I couldn't agree more with the original poster. I am often exasparated at how we give away stupid penalties, but the two yesterday made me livid. I trust Rob has made it clear that there can be no excuse for letting everyone down in this way.

| Quote: The Curtism "At 30 - 16 my friend turned to me and said "that's the match then". I told him it was too early and that Quins could lose it.
Sadly I was right.'"
I had a similar experience with a mate saying that it was a chance to help our points difference. He said the same thing at a game last year that we then went on to lose.
Forget blaming Pryce (who I'd have thought is about as close to playing first grade at Wigan as I am), Randall et al. I blame Duncan Disorderly!

| I think it's already been said by so many, 30 - 16 with ten to go, the game should have been wrapped up, and I thought we can put last weeks Warrington result down to being a blip. Clearly I was wrong, our defence for those last few minutes appeared non existant
Colly/AlanW, Jason Golden is out a while at the moment, three weeks ago he said he said he had a broken pubic bone. Before yesterdays game he said it is now a disease of the pubic bone and that he is on a six week course of alternative therapy and doesn't know if it's going to be successful

It was 30-16 with 22 to go, if it had been 10 we would have hung on.

| Quote: The Penguin "Jamie O'Callaghan, a 'solid' performance? What game were you lot watching? The lad is good with ball in hand but his defence is dreadful. Him and Pryce down the right hand side got torn to ribbons, they were useless. Even towards the end, when Chad Randall was visibly hobbling and retreated to the left hand side, Hull STILL attacked us down the right - it was that easy for them.
You have to question Powell's judgement in retaining two players down that side who simply cannot defend while a Great Britain international is whiling away hours in the stands. Very poor decision making from Rob Powell IMO.
Ironically things were going better when Clubb was playing at right centre, he was actually having a decent game as was Howell. When Powell needlessly tinkered and moved Clubb to the left, things went to pot.
Ellis was outstanding, I thought everyone else, particularly Gale, was patchy. A mixed bag but a game we should have won - Hull were very average and were playing with only one proper Half in Sean Long, who they seem to rely upon for any direction. Criminal last 20 has cost us and any illusion of us reaching the top 10 will pass very quickly unless we beat teams like this. A lot for the team (and Powell especially) to learn....'"
Yes, under the high ball, Jamie wasn't that great, you cannot fault his work ethic, he constantly goes in field looking for the ball, he's just like Sharp, KP, someone who's 6th whatever really should of been contesting those high bombs, or at least try to provide some cover for Jamie as he attempts to catch it. Personally, I don't care if KP stays with us or goes back to Wigan, I haven't seen anything from him that makes me want him to stay.
Someone mentioned Clubb moving to right centre, he didn't move to the centre position, Clubb moved into SR when Pryce came on for Bailey(?), and Pryce took his place at centre.
On another point, I hope Hull get rid of Long at the end of the season, and bring in some quality at half back, they were relying on him for direction, and kicking on the last, their kicking was woeful at times, and only put in one good kick the whole game. Hope Hull all the best for the rest of the season

| Pryce and O'C are as bad as each other in defence. O'C does well enough in attack.

| One peculiar moment I recall from Sunday was when Kouparitsas' shirt got completely ripped to pieces in a tackle. He went to the bench and pulled on a new shirt and several dozen people in the posh seats broke into a ripple of applause. There was argument on here last year about whether or not players deserved to be applauded off the field at the end of particularly poor performances - but applauding someone for putting on a shirt? That's ridiculous!.

I can only remember him dropping one too. He's pretty strong bringing the ball out from deep in our half but he does need to attack the line with more a lot more conviction. He had a golden opportunity near the line in the first half but seemed slow to react and then took the wrong option IMO. Improving though.

| Quote: tim "... BTW, what is happening with Dave Williams? Was announced he was going on loan, but he's been down here for our last 2 games.'"
Dave Williams played for Featherstone against Halifax on Thrsday evening. The first time he went near the ball he and a team-mate had a nasty collision resulting in Williams breaking his nose quite badly on his team-mate's shoulder. He played on for around another 30 minutes bandaged around his face "A-la Andy Farrell" a few years back. He had lost the bandaging, but was sporting two partial shiners at the Stoop on Sunday afternoon. As to whether he is back with us, or just having a weekend away from Fev, I don't know
