Errr, at a guess, they had to postpone their game vs Leeds due to the snow and couldn't find a game day to suit them, so muscled in on ours. Not sure what is so confusing about that...

| Quote: kiwi's 13-6 "how about they have a traditional match as a promotion and they wear a replica fulham rugby league jersey for the game and bring back some ex players introduce them to the crowd, and put some ads in paper and radio to let people know about it! same could be done for london crusaders era and bronco's era
or how about rfl commisions some market research telephone or face to face survey to find out who supports league in london waer they live and how many general sports fans would attend a league game and what would it take to get them to come along eg
Really...you are starting to scare me. Stop it now
Please feel free to search all of my posts....there will be about a dozen that refer to rugby.

Apologies - highlighted the wrong bit:
"I was informed by Paddock Punter that Quins RU were the ones driving this double header"
I knew there was a possibility of a double header but saying that RU were "driving it"!!!!!

| whole bunch of marketing and promotion ideas take em or leave em!
get rfl, skytv, quins, skolars, london amateur league representatives all involved in rugby league london promotional group. to run major event's eg test matches in london, cross promoted with quins, skolars, playing amateur league in london. group runs market research to find out about level of league awarness in london, what it would take to get people involved with sport at amateur level in london to attentend quins games eg free entry for kids on adult ticket, change kick off times, new venue etc! form better media links to get sport in papers, radio, tv etc!
all quins players must be involved in promoting the sport, weather that helping coaching a local side, being avaliable for media of all levels even backpacker magazine or local neigbourhood papers, putting up posters in ex pat kiwi/aussi bars, going along to various touch rugby comps to handout flyer etc, visiting schools etc.personally calling ex fans to get them to come back to support the side! seen west tiger doing this on tv in oz this year!
must be stacks of people from the north who live in london get them along to see hull or saints, wigan etc and get them back to support quins as a 2nd side. so if wigans your team but live in london you can go for quins when they play everone else!
get some celebrity fans should help out with press and get a few people along to check out a game
sign a kiwi or aussie or 1 of each with a name recognition cult fowolling that will put a few more bums on seats and get press coverage. lance hohaia/fuifui moimoi for example promote that fact in ex pat scene as well as that there an excitement machine in general media. sign a union player with a bit of a following who could make the transition to league again to get publicity. they wouldnt have to be in english side martin offiah never played for england at union but had amazing attcking game that came to be noticed in 7's rugby and was signed to league. maybe a signing like that would do the trick, a player cabable of doing well and being exciting in league who's underapreciated in union!
hell get martin offiah a job as promotion man for league in london! and the quins!
work on a promotional angle for every home game, eg tradition round playing in fulham jersys to mark x amount of years since... or certain players 50th or 100th game for club... revenge for last year when certain team did this or that to us last year etc.
get a email list of people at the ground and do that every week an create an email database of fans for email updates....
so many possibilities dont know if any of those have even been attempted in london

| they need a plan and goals as well - short term plan 1- 2 years, medium term plan 3-5, long term plan 5-15years,
destination 10,000+ crowds, resonable niche media presence in london, for quins and league as a sport. in 10-15 years!
got to have pratical steps and methods documented in how to achieve short and long term goals/plan as welll as plan a, b and c! without quins being able to have this and being able to demonstrate how they will be able to carry it out. very unlikely theyd get much support to continue in super league after 2012 or if no improvement by 2015 no way there can be a place for them, must have demonstrated some improvement in more thsn one capacity eg; playing results, crowd support, sponsorship, media profile.

1. Can the Moderators please confirm that this is not me because I am seriously considering seeing a doctor regarding my multiple personality disorder.
2. I agree with you Kiwi's 13-6, but it really is a lost cause. The club have chosen their path and that is it.
Can anyone tell me if there has been any more of the MASSIVE marketing campaign for the HKR game? After a flurry of activity it all seems to have gone a tad quiet. Monday afternoon KO, Easter Weekend. Have they thrown in the towel already on this one? 3,776 is the average gate v the Eastern lot, but I can't see many of them making the trip down.

| well gutterfax are you starting to think that im you in some kind of bizarre league fans forum version of edward norton and brad pitt in fight club!
seems your right for now about marketing at quins most just dont seem to care or so jaded they givin up. well if i was rfl id give them a massive kick up the ass, and be like if you want to stay in super league you better start marketing yourself and create a viable plan for short medium or long term, or enjoy playing in the lower divisions! then quins either gets its act together or dosnt and is gorrrne from super league. mite need london but not to the extent of carrying a dropkick club that wont help it self! marketing and promotion is nessecary in modern professional sport and good aand invovative marketing is cruciale if a london side to succeced in super league!

The continued obsession with developing players ourselves whilst totally ignoring the fact that without Davd Hughes and his money, this young talent wouldn't have a team to play for in SL. Not knocking development, but the total lack of any marketing for years, followed up with the ham fisted way marketing is being attempted this year just point to the club knowing they have got a licence next time around and crowds, regardless of the revenue they would bring in, don't matter.
If I am wrong and crowds do matter, then they are doing a really good job at disguising it.

I don't think we have much choice to develop local players given the rule changes. However, what frustrates me is the lack of investment in experienced quality around them. The only time we got decent crowds was in '97 when we were 2nd in the league and also enjoyed good crowds in the World Club Championship. We certainly won't build crowds on the back of the current squad.

| In Robinson and Williamson we invested in proven quality which hasn't paid off.
Dorn is Dorn- a poacher
Randall is probably one of the best hookers in the league on his day
Temata one of the best props in SL.
Sadly we have a coach who is intent on going up the middle hence why we have no quality centres, wingers etc. He certainly hasn't replaced the skill and guile of Hill and McLinden

| This predicament that the club find them in can be dated back to when the Broncos moved to Brentford and something went wrong at board level when it came to dishing out cash for marketing and promotion. 2 play-off teams and yet no real effort to attract any fans. We move to TW2 and are under no illusions we are supping in the saloon of last chances and yet the club continue to let itself be run by 1 man and his chequebook.
Sorry, but if we had moved to Quins with a 5k base instead of the 2,000 (generous) we had, then we may have kicked on, seen gates rise in 2006/2007 and had a few more quid to fork out on players/coach.
As it is, the club are now 100% reliant on DH and like all good addicts........will do whatever our "dealer" requires.
Mac has to go now. Even if we go the rest of the season getting spanked, it will give the club and the players time to plan for 2011.....where we will really need to hit the ground running both on and off the field.
If the club do get a licence next year, then the RFL must LAY DOWN A TARGET for self sufficiency....and I still believe that 6k averages are the number needed for that. So, we need to double the gates and have a PLAN IN PLACE BY SEPTEMBER.
There is no point in discussing the names of players we need and the coach we want if we are reliant on DH. We must be able to stand on our own 2 feet and we will never be able to do that until the apron strings with DH are cut. By all means errect a statue to the man, but do it for work in developent of RL in the South East.......and not for blindling thowing cash down the drain.
Field of Dreams marketing doesn't work......and the RFL and Lewis are just as responsible for our situation with comments like "quins deserve better crowds".......Bollox. Nobody deserves anything.....you have to earn what you want....and quins RL do not deserve better crowds at the moment.
Bloody depressed (in case you couldn't tell).

| How can any marketing team sell the product that we witnessed today?
I cant remember seeing such rubbish week in week out in the time I've watched London RL-They are dreadful. In attack they are dull and dont even have a go and try and entertain.
I was talking to some Man Utd fans about who will take over from Fergie-I mentioned the "special one". The response was intersting in that they said he will win things but not in the style of play the fans would like-and dismissed him out of hand
