It's more in hope than anything. I want to watch top flight rugby league and I want my local team to do well. I'm trying to have a little faith in the club I support. End of story.

Much truth in that. But it doesn't prove that we're crap anymore than your culinary shortcomings make you crap. If Delia called in tomorrow, you could be transformed.
We are always in a transitional state. I remember Dan Stains saying exactly that at an end of season speech years ago to the puzzlement of some on here. He was right and to prove it, he was out on his ear a few months later.

| What about transitioning from a squad with a heavy reliance previously on Aussies "encouraged" by the RFL who provided a different quota rules especially for us, to having a squad with heavy reliance on the youth production line.
How does that compare to your omelette?

| Like going from functional, mass-produced battery eggs which make a filling if unspectacular omlette to using eggs form the chickens you rescued from an abatoir and keep in the back garden in the hope they eventually produce a steady supply of tasty meals.

| Out of interest who has been our longest serving coach in one continuous period?
In the Super League era, from memory/reading:
1996, 1997, 1998 - Currie
1999 - Stains, Les Kiss & Tony Rea
2000 - Monie, Rea
2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 Rea
2006, Rea, McDermott
2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 McDermott
I'm not sure about before then though. Rea got up to 5 1/2 seasons continuously, if McDermott sees out his contract to 2011 then he will equal that.

and here was I getting all positive about things again, till you said that
The one I would have really liked to have been able to stay and see where he could have taken us was Les Kiss
& agree Dan the man never got to a season end awards.

Wonder what the occasion was then? Anybody else remember it, he was speaking on the pitch at The Stoop I think. Maybe after his first match as coach.

Great call, we played some good attacking Rugby (from my fading memory) in the later half of 1999 and the defence was solid.

You repeated this untruth on the VT not to mention adding some lies about violence at the Halton Stadium. Can you not defend Quins without mud slinging my club or what? For the record, our crowds in SL were significantly more than 5K, and as for trouble at Widnes, the worst complaint we've had in the last ten years is when a bunch of school kids were given free tickets and intimidated (i.e. glared and shouted at) some Huddersfield fans. Our noisy neighbours in Warrington have a far more colourful history with crowd trouble, you might be confusing the two teams?
Either way, button it.
And good luck to london for the rest of the season.

As for defending one team by denigrating another, you've been around long enough to know that's the general modus operandi for RL supporters especially on the VT
fwiw I really enjoyed the times we played Widnes, home, away and in Wales and look forward to the day when they get back into SL
