HP isn't as such but Hill is the main organiser of he whole side. He dictates play.

You are utterly, utterly wrong. All his career Hill has played outside an organiser - Kimmorley, Cronk, now Orr. Hill doesn't guide the team around the pitch, he chooses when to inject himself at second receiver. He will touch the ball around 3 times less than Danny Orr does and around 5 times less than Chad Randall.

Yer exactly, he organises the ATTACK, hence injecting himself at second reciever. Attacking kicks, passing movement etc.

HP and Hill are key decision makers and they do organise the side by choosing which direction our attacking play will go. It doesn't really matter if they don't play at first receiver, they are players who team mates look to pass to when a decision needs to be taken.
Dorn is a running standoff, it's very nice watching him intercept and run in long range tries, but he's not going to guide the side around the field. As a player he is not as good as HP or Hill, no matter how much fans like him (and I do like him), so he's not going to replace the undoubted talents those players bring to the side.

It wouldn't inspire great confidence in me. I'd rather have McLinden at 6 and Orr at 7, with Jon Wells becoming first choice fullback. Purdo at loose forward and a genuine ball handling second row to replace HP.

Totally agree, although of course in an ideal world I would rather have McLinden at fullback, A N Other at 6 and Orr at 7 with Wells as a utility back.

| We need pace in the halves.
He knows the set up here.
He's done well in his time here.
He's cheap?

Sounds good to me. The Orr/Dorn combo was a thrown in question, to see what ideas would come out.

Let's resolve this.
Dummy halves and first receivers guide the team around the pitch. The dummy half and first receiver move the team from tackle 1 to tackle 5 when the team is coming out of its own half. HP and Hill have very little to do here.
Second receivers play a larger part in directing the attack when in the opposition half. HP occasionally has a role here, Hill often does. But Orr and Randall (Rinaldi) are still the keys. If you don't believe me, look at the try assists stacked up by Orr and Randall and compare them with Hill and Paul. I doubt that HP even rates on the radar here. To sum up, Hill is often a 'go to' player but only when HRL are on attack in the oppo's half. But organisers do the tough stuff too - they guide the team away from its own line early in the tackle count.
Luke Dorn. The lad has a fantastic turn of pace and a decent right-left step but he also creates tries for others. Again, check his try assists against Scott Hill's. Dorn is ahead I think.

| I'd be very happy to see Luke Dorn back here. He is a quality player who performed consistently well for us. Whilst he may not have Scott Hill's ability to delay a pass and put someone into a gap he does have the ability to break at speed and finish moves off - something we are lacking at present. I think that there is room in our squad for more than one type of 5/8 and the current injury crisis (although in our case it seems that there is always an injury crisis!) demonstrates the need for more squad depth and I think Dorny would be a great addition to the squad. I think it's a shame he was forced to leave in the first place.

Given his form last season with the cowboys I would say get Sione, however as the old saying goes once bitten twice shy!!! So no thanks!!
Dorn, never really rated him at 6 and think he is barely super league standard. Whilst I am concerned that we are not bringing through half backs on the youth production line we have to go with the imports (GRRR!). I agree with a poster on this board where they said getting Dorn is not a step forwards.

| personaly i hope this doesnt turn out to be true, dorn has been one of our best players this season, if he does leave us i hope does as wellm for you as he's done for us. One thing that suprised me about dorn this year, is that when he was forced into the role of organiser when sherwin was injured he took to it rather well, only to revert back to his usual more individual style when sherwin came back.
Hope if you do get him, its as a trade for orr.
