It’s not rocket science 11/12 players from Skolars was way too many added to the fact it was a totally new team we were bound to struggle. I don’t think Coleman pulled up trees but it’s really his role in our recruitment which would be the key factor in whether I’d criticise him. If he was given tuppence then it is what it is, although the fact that of the 4 non Skolars Uk based players- 2 left in very quick order and one has never featured that does give rise to the question of whether his judgement was sound. As for Eccles, unless he doesn’t want it or we have a flood of high calibre applicants it would seem to be a no-brainier but I assume we would need to recruit people around him...a new fitness coach and assistant.

Didn't see that coming and Newcastle discovering that more than a full time squad is needed to do well in this division.....sort of like we discovered in 2015.

The really annoying thing about all this, is that we now have a playoff capable team, if (and its a big if), they can keep most of this team next year, employ Eccles as full time coach, and allow him to strengthen a little. We can't match Fev \ Tolouse, but we should be able to fight for the 3-6 spots next year if they can keep all these together.

The reality is Dave will do his usual showstring budget, most of the players we have will be poached, Eccles will not be retained, and we will stick between 700 - 1K fans in a 10K stadium, with the Fan zone closed. At best we probably have attracted 50 returning Dons fans,although if we finish the season strong we might attract a few more, and they will keep the ST price same as last year and nobody will buy as they will all know by May you will get offers which are less than the ST would be.

Aim is to finish above Newcastle now in League, and then build for next year.
