Quote: Dave Lister "Easy rude boi. If I travel 200+ miles for this as a walkup and the only seat I am offered is row A in Ax, then I am going to be fairly upset. Although I would rather sit there than in the North/South stands, point still stands that we are playing the NRL champions and our farce of a club is opening 2 stands, max. TWO STANDS, against the NRL champions. '"

I'd like to think this won't be the case, but the very fact that the matter seems open to doubt isn't going to help boost the crowd figure. Last year for the Manly game we had both side stands open (i.e. the best two stands in the ground) and each looked around two thirds-three quarters full, and it was the best crowd figure and probably the best atmosphere for any home game last year. It doesn't seem like rocket science to just do the same again for this match.

I appreciate the savings made by not opening the entire ground but the club's policy of opening the bare minimum number of seats, and shoehorning walk-ups into the few seats not sold in advance, makes us look small time and unambitious, i.e we're not even aiming to or don't expect to fill more than one stand. Above all else I reckon it's probably a false economy, as I would think it's also liable to deter any casual spectator from coming back if they get a worms-eye view from near the corner flag, with people continually wandering across their field of vision, while whole blocks of seats with a much better view lie vacant. Obviously some people are getting a similar experience for union games, but the crucial difference is the ground is close to capacity and if they don't want to come back there's probably someone else ready and willing to fill their seat.

Not offering the two main stands for this game is an absolute disgrace. I understand that the club needs to operate on a certain budget, but I know (and no i am not privy to the details of the club) that opening the second stand would more the offset the cost of operations for this game.

Currently you have a limited chice of seats: This
A) May turn potential fans away
B) Effects your match day experience. I commit to the event, buy my tickets early but cannot get my preffered seats. Later on the club opens the other stand and it is possible to get a better position. Leaving a sour taste in my mouth, non return.

This game is supposed to showcase our club the new fans, already they have put them selves behind the 8 ball. Last year I came down with close to a dozen friends. We did the same for the test, usually I can pull 4-5 for a standard SL game. Really struggling to suggest to bring friends to this game as I can get enough seats in a 16k stadium that is going to house maybe 5k. Really starting to lose patience with this club.

Can't fault this post!!! I would certainly feel affected by B) but ugly rumour is that they aren't going to fill out Etihad!!!

Anything less than 5k would be an embarassing disgrace to both the Club and the RFL.

Quote: gutterfax "Can anyone confirm if there has been any "activity" in TNT or at the Walkabouts?
I am with Listy on this one....the club should have opened both SIDES for this game. There will be a few walk up fans and if we want them back, then let them THINK they can sit where they want....'"

I've seen full page adverts in the Aussie Times and TNT mag. Not sure on the walkies, as I've got on reason to visit one at the moment, but I do know Quins have previously worked with the company who does all their advertising.

I'm going in a big group, all walk up.

What`s with all this last minute outrage about the seats on offer, it was made quite clear when the tickets went on sale (back end of last year?) that initally just the Ethiad seats were being sold......so I bought straight away for a sizeable group and have have got good seats......it`s called forward planning.

Now supporters come on here a few days before the game and accuse the club of not doing the very thing that they themselves have not done.......forward planning.

If you could not be bothered to secure a seat early then don`t moan about what is left on offer. Did not hear a peep from you about the ticketing arrangements when they first went on sale.

Give the club a break.......or is it just too good an opportunity to have another whinge??

Some of us have lives outside Rugby League and can't make such commitments so far in advance. Not catering for walkups is barmy.

This kind of attitude and essentially only catering for the fans that will be attending anyway gets us nowhere. Great, we have the people who will buy tickets miles in advance but these are not the people who will make the club grow. The people who will make the club grow are those who are in fact being offered the worst possible product, through no fault of their own.

Oh come on! You can walk up and buy a ticket on the day at the ticket office, where's the problem. People are looking for excuses not to come! Surely we have better things to moan about? If you leave it late you will have to take what is available, maybe the club should offer a chauffer driven rolls to the ground and butler service? LOL.

This is the point that seems to have been missed by some. I bought half a dozen tickets for a fiver each on the half way line ages ago on the basis it was a bargain and I could find friends (one other STH + a few who go to one or two games a season) who would come along, but anyone unacquainted with our club or code and unfamiliar with the layout of the ground etc., just seeing the match advertised this week and thinking it might be worth a look, won't get a great experience if they turn up with a few mates and pay on the day to find most of the ground closed and they can't get seats together or get a mediocre view. Hopefully this won't be the case.

Surely, just for this one glamorous game, we could have made it clear right from the start that the whole ground, or at the very least the two largest stands, would definitely be open (as was the case for the similar fixture last year) and we were aiming to better last season's crowd of 6,000 against Manly?

The hard core may grumble sometimes but will usually keep turning up regardless. It's the more casual or occasional spectator who won't complain publicly, but just won't bother returning, that we need to bear in mind here. Otherwise we'll never get bigger crowds in the forseeable future. This whole apparent ethos that "it's not worth opening more than a bit of the ground, but we might open a bit more if there's more interest than we expected" seems incredibly negative and just creates a very downbeat and low key image of the club for me.

OK. If you really believe that is adequate then that's your opinion.

Ironic considering the amount of bleating so called "supporters" did about having to sit in the awful East Stand that was apparently completely justified because the view isn't as good because of the concourse and that the sun got in their eyes. But then its OK to treat new supporters badly by offering them awful seats in a stadium that is 2/3 empty. That's really going to bring new fans in, but its OK as long as the regulars have bought tickets well in advance icon_thumb.gif icon_rolleyes.gif
