Agree with everything you've said.
I also don't understand why we must be called 'London'. That gives nothing away. We could play anywhere in London, it's not gonna change anything with regards to crowd numbers. If we must re-name, then I'd rather we were called Richmond, as it least it shows the casual sports fan where we play. It also banishes the notion that we will moving around London again.

1649_1338292262.jpg I have followed the LONDON CLUB since I was in my teensl even though born in St Helens and still live nearby and went to the first game at Fulham, also Big West Ham Supporter:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_1649.jpg |

Did I say it was? LOL, at the end of the day fans will be considered but it will be a business decision and more important what the RFL, David Hughes and hopefully a major sponsor wants.
From what has been our most heated debate for a long time, there is very little agreement here in the forum and we are the few! The latest suggestion not to have London in the name personally I feel is a non starter from those who have the final decision, Richmond??

Perhaps I should have qualified more clearly and said Super League! if it is such a good idea why is it not working? in the North most clubs never had serious competition as we have in London from Premiership teams in football and union.
It is interesting that now even a rugby steeped town as St Helens the number of really loyal supporters is a very very small percentage of the population of what is only a town, this could be down to the number of people who have moved from Liverpool and that younger people follow football teams more than rugby league which does not have the same school or amateur young players numbers!
We have some high points in the 20 years but we never seem to have been able to build on it!

Well considering you used it as a reason for why we should be called Broncos again, I'd say it was.
What's wrong with Richmond? We play in the Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames. I'm a firm believer that we should be named after the Borough we play in, after all you don't see any football teams named 'London,' do you? There are no other teams called Richmond, except for Richmond RFC, but they're hardly a household name; therefore no one can be confused with any other teams regarding our name. It seems to be a Northern thing that we must be called London. I don't see why personally, you don't see Leeds being called 'Yorkshire Rhinos' or Warrington 'Cheshire Wolves'. It's a big place remember. If we are called London, inevitably the first question asked will be: "Where do they play?" At least if we're called Richmond, it's obvious whereabouts we play.
Anyway, as I've said before, I don't want a name change, I'm happy with Harlequins. What happens on the pitch is far more important and sorting our squad for next year, should be the top priority.

I do think the club missed a trick when they went from being London Crusaders to the London Broncos. I said at the time that the club should have been called the Charlton Broncos. I'm sure if they had then gates would have been higher than they was, and they would still be playing at the valley in front of decent crowds.

I would be surprised if that was true......Greene King IPA is the official beer of England Rugby Union ( rlsourcerl).
A quick search of our old friend Google shows that Fullers have been known to run campaigns during the six nations ( rlsourcerl) as well as other sports, but nothing official.
In 2009 the RFU complained to the ASA ( rlSOURCErl) so I doubt the RFU and Fullers are even on speaking terms.
Loose and lazy journalism....nothing new there then

| That is your opinion Pinkerton and I accept and respect you don't want a name change, but that would sign our death notice and there is no alternative now it is which name.
The only reason I do not like Richmond is that again I always think of Richmond RUFC, London for me with a further moniker broadens the interest and does not confine us to only attracting local residents.
Gutterfax if The League Express have made up such a story about Fullers as you seem to feel, I think the Brewers and our club such ask for a retraction and apology, but I just can't see them making up such a line, time will tell, but it seems clear it will not be Fullers and Pride.

it wouldn't be the first time a "thread" topic on here became a "story" in LE.

| I think Richmond does have too much bearing on rugby union if we used it....Richmond RUFC is one of the oldest clubs in world rugby - along with Blackheath and Harlequins.
I'd be happy with a compromise as mentioned on this thread of West London.... or similar. I think we do need London in the name so that it shows where the team is from........ don't forget there is a Richmond in Yorkshire!
Do we have any idea on dates that a decision will be reached? Do we need to have made an official decision on our future name and brand before the new licences are announced?

That is presuming any ground we may come to either own or be co-owners with, rather than the current poor neighbours renting, is situated in the West of London or then we need another name change.

Fair enough. Though I wasn't talking about just Union fans, I meant London sports fans in general. I don't think many young people in London would know much about them, unless they were Union fans, because they're not at the top level of the game, whereas Saracens, Irish, Harlequins, Wasps are household names to people who don't watch or know anything about Union. Myself, I don't know anything about Richmond and I know of the name due to seeing them on a Union league table a few years ago. Anyway, I vote in favour for Harlequins, unless a name change, to something like Thames Harlequins. Surely we're in South west London and not West London as well?
Are we really moving grounds again?! This is why I think supporting this team can be ridiculous at times. We can't simply give something a chance, without changing it up again! We'd be mad to leave the area, considering we have done all the community work and got the local schools playing the game!

Most of those who have jumped on the RU bandwagon in the last 10-15 years won't have a clue who Richmond are.
