I agree, we need to prepare for next season like a promoted side would in order to make themselves competitive.
If we don't make significant improvements to the squad, I 'm not sure I'll be retaining my season ticket.

Not been funny, but can you please name the 20+ players you would sign that would be better than the ones your letting go, and would they want to come to Harlequins. Always had a soft spot for Quins, but think your been unrealsitic.
Harlequins struggle to attract top players. Yet some fans want rid of the whole team, then want 20+ players who are better to sign for your club. Not going to happen am afraid. Some won't happy about you been rumoured with Gower. WHY!!?? This is exactly the signing Quins need. An Ex Aussie international who has class and mor eimportantly experience (which is something Quins have massively lacked this season)
I really don't understand why Quins don't raid the championship where they are some real talented players. Most would want to sign as they will become full time, and none of them will be on big money. Players like;
Ben Black
Rob Worrincy
Menzie Yere
Paul Ballard
Stuart Dickens
All would improve your team and not on a lot of money.
P.S If you get Gower it is a real coup for you.

| So wil lthis mean we be on the look out for a SH as well a SO (unless Gower rumour is true).
Or could it mean that Dorn will return to the Halves and we have a new FB next year.
Like this Dixon kid from the U20's here so much about

I know you are a Bradford supporter desperate to be positive over this woeful signing, but Menzie Yere and Stuart Dickens? I'll give you the other 3 though.
The question asked was which players that we wish to retain - i.e. those that are irreplaceable. I would go along with The Penguin's suggestions, and add Krasniqi to the list.

| If Andy Ellis leaves, that would be a big loss. As many others have said Gale is too inconsistent, and if he performs in front of the "10,000" that he dreams of the way he has done at times in front of our 3,000, then they are likely to be very vocal in letting him know how poor he can be.

| bull mania, good post from you mate, and i agree with what you say, not fully with the names you came up with, where did Gayle come from!!!?
Surprised that he has decided to go a year early but hey ho thats the nature of the beast, I do think he has been one of our best attackign options and he has shown some flair in some games
I have a feeling with Rob going as well we will have quite a change in playing staff, and have to agree we do need some new names in

Gale can look, not quite a millions dollars, but something along those lines and at other times he looks like we roped a supporter into playing for the home side. I genuinely believe he has potential to be top-level player, but at the moment he is far too inconsistent and struggles to do the basic things such as accurate passing, thinking ahead, basic defensive inadequacies, communication, and working to give his backs good ball at pace. On his positives he has returned to kicking at goal, he has a good link up play with Luke Dorn through the middle and he started the season in very positive fashion, but in a side that seems to struggle to do the basics first he is an inconsistent half and one who has never given me confidence that he will dominate, orchestrate or boss a game, he would open up a gap with a bit of little genius, but he is a far too inconsistent player for a side that badly needs a return to formal structure and constistency, mixed in with the flair players of yesteryear.
No need to mention the crowds on his part, and I imagine he will struggle to silence the Bradford boo-boys or he will embrace the potential that he does have. Hopefully he does, but I won't shed a tear if he doesn't.

| I fear he'll go down as another superb Bulls buy from Quins like Worrincy, Sheriffe, Sykes etc. As a side we really need make fewer errors, miss fewer tackles and be more consistent. As a result I do wonder why we signed a player who has serious issues with his defence and his ball security. He probably has some good things going for him but we've enough defensive turnstiles and error machines as it is so I'm not sure if the good things he has are worth having...

| Quote: PC Plum "Exactly, he evidently hasn't / hadn't bought into the long term vision of the club, a club that put him in the shop window. Amusingly, I am sure those words will come back to haunt him as it is one thing underperforming in front of 3k, a totally different proposition underperforming in front of 10k+. As he has no future at the club, we should put him in the u20s and promote one of the younger lads, Mike Bishay maybe, as we have nothing to play for and nothing to lose.'"
Reading it again it could meanThat's what rugby is all about and if you [i(a player)[/i can't play in front of 10,000 people then you shouldn't be in the game.'"
Rather than this readingThat's what rugby is all about and if you [i(a team)[/i can't play in front of 10,000 people then you shouldn't be in the game.'"
Obviously no amateur club is ever going to play in front of 10,000 and I don't think anyone would say they shouldn't be in the game.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was a poorly worded Bradford press release. Not much else Bradford does these days is particularly good.

| The thing is with a Gale is (and no-offence) he was playing behind a beaten pack this year. It's not coincidence that he was brilliant at the start of 2011 and your pack were dominating games. However your forwards havn't performed making it hard for Gale to win games for you.
At Bradford he will be behind arguebly one of the top packs in SL. He's young, British and will flourish behind a fighting pack.
I sincerley hope you get quality replacements as I like Quins a lot. Someon mentioned Ben Black, he would be a good shout as would Rob Worrincy. Also why not Menzie Yere??? He was snapping the Aussie team in half in the 4 nations!!!!!!

| Menzie Yere hides away for the vast majority of games. Too slow. Liability in defence (worse than Clubb).

| I imagine that Kyle Briggs wouldn't be too happy with playing in front of 10,000 (at least this year), and Bradford's pack are hardly the fearsome foursome. I hope Luke goes well, but he's has ample opportunity to dominate our play and hasn't shown the consistency needed to do that, and sometimes the attitude. I'd have liked him to stay, as at 23 he's time to develop, but that's Super League.
