Obviously, but don't forget that up north it would have been as part of the whole community spirit and I doubt as many females of any age attended.
Son's and dads always will, but mum's and daughters ?
Peter Deacon led the way in opening the sport up to families.

| Yeah fair enough, I respect what you have to say and you make a good point.
This whole idea of the "next generation of RL fans" is still a load of rubbish though.

| personally I dont think this is about generating immediate bums on seats but more about how to spread awareness.
Those who like that sorta stuff are talking about how these dancers are perfoming at the Quins or the Rugby. imo thats were the problem lies as it'll probably just give a boost to the union side of things.

| Quote The ankle biter wouldn't enthuse because they wouldn't log onto the Quins website in the first place. For a day out at The Stoop, the adults make the choice, not the kids. I can sort of see your point but if the adults were that bothered i'd think that they'd drag the child along anyway. Its not going to attract new supporters, IMO, so is therefore a waste of time.'"
And the reason we have a fantastic award winning community programme is......... NO the kids might not log onto websites but they do hear about these things at school from the community teachers and staff and go home and pester, Dad thinks ok I would like to see a game, Mum comes along because the kids want to go. Don't knock it till we have tried it. It is better than sitting back doing nothing, something which was getting everyones backs up. And as for next gereration, we have to start somewhere it may take a few years before these kids come along and buy a season ticket themselves but getting them interested now is a positive thing. I have never said it should be the only thing the club do but it is a new initiative and one that may or may not work but let's try it before we shout it down. The most important thing is getting these peoples contact details and phoning them and canvassing them about what they like, dont like, what we should do, what we shouldn't be doing. New people, new faces, new ideas don't knock it yet. These very people may enjoy being part of a sport that welcomes all, families can enjoy without fear of fans having punch ups and abusive language flying around. We are a friendly club, we respect each other so maybe if we see someone new we should welcome them and let them see just how much fun and family entertainment in the fresh air they can get for a relatively small outlay. We loose nothing by trying and no-one else has been able to solve the crowd problem yet. Lets get them through the gates and it's up to all of us to make sure they have a good experience and want to come back. But after that it is up to the club to ensure the data is used and not pushed aside

Agree, also agree with DC, that was fantastic. Genuine entertainment in the form of the 40/20, Chris Warren was on fire.

Great. Still disagree with it and don't think it has the effect that you believe it has. Agree to disagree.
Won't work, won't bring in any new supporters, and I think the idea of having kids as half time "entertainment" is awful (see Castleford).
This is a rugby club, not a youth club, we play rugby.

Good stuff it was (though not as good as the Cowgirls with Leyla and Cassie ).
Mr Warren is likely to have more time available in the near future as Setanta implodes. Though please let us not get back to his marketing initiatives all of which centred on Sittin' in the sun and 'avin' a beer with yer mates. Ugh!

'cos that was the beginning and end of all his "ideas".
That's apart from efforts such as "On the beach" themes where lots of fans (not me) made the effort but Warren didn't. He's a good presenter - give him a script and he'll put it over well, but throw him a wobbler and he has no idea what to do next.

Sounds a hell of a lot better than "come and watch some kids dancing" at half time.

I must admit I was a little disappointed when I first drank one a couple of years ago (I wasn't quite old enough when they were still at GP).

You can tell you don't have a child. Homer is spot on. My daughter (age 5) gets dragged along so I and my wife can go to games. My daughter holds her attention of the game quiet well - she loves to see the cheerleaders & enjoys a dance after a try. However she does start to get bored - kids do (you must still be a bored kid judging by the drivel you come out with some times). If there were some dancers / creche type space under the stand we could put her in there for a bit it would be a blaessing. I suspect many past and present supporters are faceed with the same choice when kids come in to their lives.
Give the parents a choice, put things on that appeal to the kids - meanwhile the rest of you can get some beers in and watch the game. Everyones a winner baby - in the words of Hot Chocolate!
