| As long as they give their all while accepting a wage that is all the club and fans have the right to ask. Eddie did this, he always went above and beyond. Its a business and if clubs dont want a person any longer as part of the club no matter who it is they will get rid of them. Players move teams to hopefully gain experience and play at higher levels. Their career is short therefore I think booing a player who has given their all because he wants to progress his career when the chance comes along is beyond contempt. I would never want to see deceit gaining anything as has happened in the past (we all know who I mean) but when a player wants to move on let him. He has a chance for himself and if you refuse to let him go you wont get the best from him. I may be wrong but is this the first time since Denis Moran that we have actually been paid a fee

| Quote Deadcowboys1="Deadcowboys1"I think you & wantawin have missed the point of my observation. Don't think anyone would begrudge Eddie his day in the sun. He has given his all when playing & good kyck to him.
Its also not for ML to like or otherwise as he is Commercial Manager not CEO or Owner but usually when our players leave, even those under contract, there is something from Hughes thanking them etc etc. Not this time & even Wakefield's name isn't mentioned. I'm sure Eddie was a big part of Danny's plans so you can understand the terseness of the statement. Don't think Wakefield have conducted themselves well though.'"
LOL, in what way have we not conducted ourselves well.. We made an offer and we waited for London and Battye to sort it out. If he wanted to say no or London has we'd have left it at that, Grow up.

| Quote Victor="Victor"I just wonder if Wakefield will mess up Eddie Battye, as they have messed up Alex Walker.'"
This is getting silly now. One Battye has already played a number of excellent games for us, that's why we signed him
Why have we messed up Walker? Walkers only problem is that he isn't anywhere near as good as Jowitt currently is. He can rectify that by being better this year, Walker was always a speculator, he wasn't the finished article whilst at London and now he faces far stronger competition for his place.
He was also a tad unlucky as when you make a big move, especially a distant move, you need all the luck you can get and he didn't get a lot, Trinity performed badly in 2020 even taking Covid and a crippling injury list into account. Few players look good joining a poorly performing team, although Eddie managed it. Walker played ok in the pre-covid games last year but like a number of players he did not perform well on his return, the players as a unit messed that up not the club.
Some fans have a really odd view on the game

Are you eight or nine years old, it's hard to tell.
Just as well Trinity fans don't boo every player who's ever left us for fame and fortune, we'd be knackered after ten minutes. Get over yourself it happens, did Sheffield fans boo him when he played against them, I suspect not, it's called maturity.

| Vastman, i for one agree with you, eddie put in some good mtrs for you when he was on loan, and as you say, thats why your lot wanted him to stay.
Walker had some good games for you, but he is still developing, so a couple of mistakes and that was his confidence shot and his performances went downhill, Jowett handled the pressure better.
Think schoey, has your lot for bottom this year, so your probably gonna do well, reckon if he gets a couple of good games under his belt, if he can get in the 17, walker will do ok, he probably needs some time on loan though.
Eddie will become a fans fave trust me, he is a worker.

No, your fans just spit on the opposition supporters as they leave the ground.

I've been going to away games at Wakey for 29 years and never witnessed any spitting. In fact, I've not noticed any sort of unpleasant behaviour from their fans in all of that time.

There was a bit of demolition of seats from a small number of s who came down to watch us stuff Wakefield on our first game back in SL a few seasons back.
Thankfully they didn’t come back when we met again later in the season

Wakefield have an above average number of knuckledraggers following them, that's for sure.
